VCT map pool

should vct keep the same map pool through the entire year, even if the ranked map pool changes?
i think they should at least keep the same map pool through each split, so like kickoff and masters 1 have the same map pool, same with stage 1 and masters 2, and stage 2 and champs.
i hate it when a team qualifies to a masters then their two best maps are taken away and they’re shit

changing 1 map after each masters is fine, i think the same map pool all year is going too far the other way. As an aside another thing that desperately needs to change if people want more consistency in vct is to abandon this kickoff shit already and do a normal split before the first masters, it gives teams like no time to antistrat or refine anything

the kickoff shit also makes the first event of the year so mickey.

2024: SEN, KC, LOUD fell off after Madrid
2025: T1, EDG, VIT, DRX, TE fell off after Bangkok

icl i think the unrefined factor of it makes the first masters more entertaining, they teams who win are either the best raw team or the best at adapting quickly, making it more unique gameplay compared to the rest of the events (especially now that masters 1 is 12 teams too)

idk to me unrefined valo is always more boring because teams just have fewer ideas of how to play/deal with comps so you get maps where teams just look lost

i actually enjoy the unrefined metas don't get me wrong it shouldnt be too dogshit but the good teams will innovate and adapt and thats entertaining to watch. It also fosters creativity in agent picks and random sick plays. s0m using harbour on abyss and drx with the waylay+yoru combo were great to watch. Teams look lost cuz they ass at the end of the day.

Yep 1 map change at the end of each masters. No double map changes, no map changes in-between normal season and quals, no map changes between quals and international events. Same with meta changes, you play in the same meta to qualify for a international tournament as the tournament itself. Unless something is genuinely cancer, but honestly we got to just stop adding cancer shit to the game and have a better filter on releases. Tejo, Corrode, Veto do one more dumbass thing Riot and your player base is GONE.

i actually think corrode is a great map minus the bs paper thin walls on site

Insane long rotates, every single item is grey, A site elbow layout just sucks IMO (same with Sunset A), not a ton of verticality. These are the reasons I think it is bottom 3 maps in the game but I understand if some people have a different opinion. Objectively thought I think the rotates and everything being grey should stop you from describing the map as "great".

i agree on the rotates being kinda long as a negative but personally i couldnt care less about the map/item colors. i came from cs so im used to shit looking like ass. Might be why i like the map it kind of reminds me of a cs map.

See my favorite CS maps are Overpass and Nuke which are more colorful but even Nuke has a lot of silver/white/light grey. I am not saying I want to play in a tye-dye map (in comp that sounds super fun in casual) but in a game like Valo I think Corrode misses the mark style wise. I wish they made it more like a broken castle, instead of genuinely whatever theme they are trying to make. Also just from the map telling a thematic story this one is super weak IMO compared to Bind, Lotus, Ascent, even other maps I don't love like Abyss just add more to the game and feel like they belong. Main issue is the long rotates oml it is so boring when a solid 30+ seconds of each round can be running back and forth.

Yea im a dust 2 and mirage enjoyer. valid points to hate on corrode if you enjoy the story telling and visual aspects of the map ive just personally never been interested/cared for those things. But yeah i do hate the long rotates its also the reason i dont like breeze.

See I dislike the rotates on Breeze but the map is super fun to look at and if it is never going to be added back to comp we need a new beach map. Also the way mid works on Breeze improves rotates IMO vs Abyss or Corrode but still not a fan of running simulator.

i didnt like how they kept fking around with halls and ngl its one of the maps im worse at lol. the aesthetic is pretty cool and the large wide open spaces allows for fun long range aim duels sometimes.

i think 1 map post masters is good, but i would love if they could do everything possible to prevent leaks of the map pool changes and only disclose the map pool rotation after the event is over so teams who didnt go dont get an advantage in prep

Huh, I was thinking the opposite and announcing map pool changes for the whole year in like November, right after gcc.

Yeah i agree, this way even if the map pool got leak there minimal to none effect.

i just hate the different teams praccing different map pools because of whos at events it makes when you have to play certain teams such a factor, like if you have to play FNC or TH week 1 after a international in emea its SO much easier compared to playing them week 5 imo, because you can force them into banning the new map allowing you to get a better general veto vs them or force them to play it on little prac.
