Why LEV ACAD

So this is a genuine question. I am an APAC fan so not too familiar with talents in the Americas scene.

I get that LEV is rebuilding around south american talents and their current lineup looks like this :

  • Sato
  • spikezin
  • kiNgg

Why is the general consensus that LEV will fill up the remaining two spots with their Academy players? I mean with talents from other SA teams rebuilding as well, wouldnt it make sense to add in already proven players in Tier 1 that may have failed due to their unfortunate teams? Though from VLR stats, the LEV ACAD players do look strong but would that translate well into Tier 1, especially when LATAM Tier 2 isnt particularly a strong region?

Also what language would they be using? Chile’s main language is Spanish while Brazil mainly speaks Portugese. Assuming they add blowz and ghoul33, wouldnt kiNgg need time to learn Portugese to be able to IGL. Even then, IGLing would be difficult for someone just learning the language.

And if they use English, why did they remove Okeanos, a promising prospect?

Im not saying it’s wrong to use academy players, but did they say somewhere that that is the direction they are going with? Because that has been all I have been seeing

Spanish is close enough to Portuguese, much like Verno on MIBR except the fact that Kingg has been using Spanish his entire life so learning portuguese won't actually take that long.

cuz the academy boys are real goats in what they do, they will bring back Onur to HC from academy also and they will communicate in portuguese, most of SA players can communicate in portuguese cuz u play with brazilians most of the time and the languaje barrier is low, thats why they drop okeanos, he cant speak portuguese and that was the main issue for the new roster

well the thing about spanish and portuguese is that the language is about 90% the same, meaning that their communication will be sound even if they choose to speak their native languages, which is most likely the case

as for players, they have a core of sato kingg and spike, meaning they need an ini and a senti to round out the roster. ini will almost 100% be blowzin form their academy as he is an extremely promising prospect, and as for the senti role chances are they promote neon, who was a duelist, and mold him into a senti.

hope this helps :)

Just imagine having an Academy and NOT using their own players, it wouldn't make any sense, promoting one or two makes the academy team a viable pathway to VCT, adds a lot of hype to the fan base and it makes sense if Onur is coming as Head Coach to bring some players he likes and knows well

It's not a consensus, their whole roster was already leaked. To give you some context:

Latam Finals (Qualifier for Ascension, regional between Latam South and Latam North) is being dominated by LAS teams, now imagine how the Academy team that won most tournaments in their region would do.

Regarding language, Kingg already knows Portuguese, Lev 2024 communicated in three languages English, Portuguese when Tex and C0m died, and spanish when Aspas died, also the academy already comms in Portuguese with Neon being their igl.

Their academy project for this year was to let Onur train the best upcoming talents from Brazil and Latam so the main team would not need to go to a bidding war between other team.

also Fer Diez, CEO from LEV was saying since the start of this year that their plan for 2026 was to build a roster taking players from their academy, which they've been preparing since forever while waiting for them to be able to compete

Kingg is already fluent in portuguese. He used to play at the brazilian server like most latinos and has been interviewed in thr brazilian broadcast several times.

The academy players have been with the org for a long time, and this year they performed really good, demolishing the regional competition.

Picking players from the academy means that lev doesn't need to buy out any of them, they were guided by an experienced coach, and at the end of the day, the whole reason for having an academy team is to promote said players into your main roster once they are 18+ and are good enough to justify it.

All 5 are good, but Neon and Blowz are goated. Oc they may translate better or worse their capabilities into VCT, but until it happens, it's impossible to say, and it's mandatory to give it a shot.

going full latam and sato HARD clears okeanos potential wise if they can get half of spike's confidence back he plays 10x better then okeanos
