Thoughts on Babybay?

After seeing his performance with G2 during Stage 2, what are everybody's real thoughts on him? Personally, I think that after his showing there could be a real chance he actually gets picked up by a different tier 1 team next year. I think he looked like he could fill the sentinel role extremely well, and still had the mechanical talent to put up numbers and clips when his team needed him to, despite not playing professionally for around two years. I'm curious to hear what other people think about him, and the predictions of who might be looking to pick him up if you think he will get picked up.

EG picked up Apoth for the main roster for 2024, we don't count them, they'll pick up anyone

I don't think its gonna be FUT since they are a Turkish speaking team and some of their players don't even speak english,.

Only thing that worries me is that G2 has made Tex, Icy and now Babybay look like competent or high level pros. It's a bit like a player being in the Warriors/Spurs system then leaving and they fall off. I think Babybay has talent but the only team that should be picking him up is one that already has talent around him where he can be an emotional leader and fit into a system.

he could probably shine as a duelist

also tex played with the guard core he was on duelist then moved to sentinel for lev when aspas joined the team and has stuck with it since

Why would you pickup Babybay on duelist when so much Tier 2 talent exists that is younger with higher potential? He hasn't played duelist on a team in 3 years

they just lean into their strengths icy is a good raze and they picked him up in a raze meta and hes a good teammate, tex was a high level operator player and the team leaned into that as heavy as possible, and babybay is also similar they forced chamber on most maps for his comfort.

That's kinda my point G2 knows EXACTLY how to use players + they are surrounded by one of the best cores in VALORANT. We've seen teams fumble players and not play to their strengths cough cough Demon1 on NRG but G2 knows exactly how to make all of those guys you listed shine and look great

true, any team who can slot their players in well within a limited amount of time is the signs of a great team

its just fraudulent coaches idk how tf people have misused demon1 twice like NRG tried to make him an entry duelist when they had victor made no sense but you literally have an entire split to showcase how that went and then LEV TRIED IT AGAIN???? and then dropped him when he started performing on smokes. still i think if babybay gets an offer from like C9 or LEV he could benefit them a lot especially now that LEV has a competent coach

yeah, I think either of those teams would make him look good but I believe LEV is going full LATAM/BR but I'd rather have Babybay than neT for sure. I honestly think 100T needs someone like babybay just from a pure vibes POV because they always look so depressed once they start losing or their lead starts slipping.

I can see it. At the same time, I think Babybay (even though his time on the team was short) never had a series where it looked like he was just deadweight, other than his very first game back against Sen. As he continued, he only looked better and better. Meanwhile Icy and Tex DEFINITELY had moments where they looked like real deadweight on G2 (especially Icy.) I would say that overall Babybay looked mechanically better than Icy when Icy was on G2, and definitely looks smarter than Tex on Sentinel. I think there's a possibility the reason that Icy and Tex looked so good is because they were on duelist and had a literal god tier team behind them to help set them up, while in Babybay's case, he had to be much smarter than either of those two had to be while playing the sentinel role for them

I think a big part of the reason Icy/Tex had some down performances was due to mental toughness. Icy has an awful mental, and Tex just seems out of the game if he isn't shooting. I'm not trying to discredit Babybay, but he has 10x the confidence of both of those guys inside and outside the game, and I think that is a huge factor in having consistently good performances. It’s something that would bring a lot of value to younger teams (like 100T, who need a LEADER). I will say, I was incredibly impressed how fast Babybay learned Vyse/Viper.

His confidence is another massive W in his favor tbh, you're 100% correct that his confidence would help bring a LOT of value to a team that needs it
