Do you think International Grand finals would be better if they were Bo7?
Let me address some potential concerns before I go into the pros:
- From a viewing prespective watching a 7 map series wouldn't be that much longer than watching 2 bo3s that each go 3 maps
- From a pro players prespective playing 7 maps might be torture but who gaf about them
- Giving advantage to a team coming from winners finals is harder, but 1 idea I had is letting that team fully decide the order of maps (I don't know if this too strong/weak)
Ok now some of the benefits, of a bo7 over a bo5:
- I think double map ban creates situations where the weaker team will actually win since they can avoid their opponents best maps. I understand that's the reward for going to grands finals from the upper bracket but when one side of the bracket is just harder, it sometimes leads to teams getting this advantage undeservedly
- Best team always winning leads to more overall satisfaction at the result of the match
- The winning team proves they can compete on all 7 maps, which I think should be requirement
There is the obvious con of a 4-0 sweep with 0 close maps being more boring than a 3-0 sweep but there is really any sweep that is fun to watch. Thoughts? Would you prefer a bo7 over a bo5?
Edit: On second thought I forgot teams like FNC exists, I thought we were looking at an upper limit of like 5-6 hours but if it's like FNC vs G2 we might end getting double that time
