MarT1n's arrival is the latest domino to fall in the chain of roster moves for Trace in 2025. A strong end to the 2024 season saw the organization reach the playoffs of Champions Seoul, and that momentum carried into the new year as they qualified for Masters Bangkok. However, after a shaky start to China Stage 1, Trace made a change.

Four games into the stage, after a 2-2 start, Trace picked up Midi to replace FengF in the starting roster. After finishing fourth in their group, Trace entered the playoffs in the lower bracket, where one win was the most that they could manage before being eliminated.

MarT1n has spent the past year on Xi Lai's roster. Previously playing for Rare Atom Rare Atom China Rank #7 zhe Niu Zhe (牛哲) Satoshi Fei Zhixian (费郅贤) ZiXuan Liu Junwei (刘俊伟) Midnight Wang Yingjie (王英杰) miluji tě and then JDG Esports JDG Esports China Rank #17 kklin Zhang Ziling (张梓凌) stew Park Young-chan (박영찬) jkuro Yong Haochong (杨浩聪) Babyblue Geng Haoran (耿浩然) Z1yan Liu Zihan (刘紫涵) after it was acquired by the org, MarT1n helped XLG to win China Ascension in 2024, but has not been a starter for them since the start of the 2025 season. He's most well-known for his efforts on the Controller and Sentinel roles, playing as Xi Lai's primary Controller during its Ascension run while also playing Killjoy on select maps.

Since Xi Lai gained promotion to VCT China, MarT1n has been a substitute, only competing in non-VCT events, such as the FGC Invitational, China Evolution, and HERO ESPORTS ACL. It's unclear if he joins Trace as a substitute or will be starting. LuoK1ng and heybay played Trace's Controller and Sentinel roles prior to Midi's arrival, meaning changes to roles could be on the cards.
