Combo ult with smokes, when you ult as a defender to defuse just hold the wall if you have time
If you place smoke on a box you can get into astral form and your legs will rise
just get fast with placing stars. Mastery on Astra will have you jumping and placing stars before you land and quickly using util. The faster you are with her the better.
Going into astral form points your star 20 m in front of you instantly (I think it's 20)

smoke + suck/stun main on defense, smoke + suck/stun on bomb on attack
astra's skill level is extremely overrated. there's more ways to use stars of course but that's situational and needs more coordination than you'll find in 90% of your games, what I said is enough to make her as valuable as other controllers in ranked anyway
also a good indicator for when to stun on defense is when you see the reyna flash on the map (if you're playing on the other site) since reyna is in the majority of the games anyway
biggest thing is placing stars fast, as well as intelligently using the pull and stun
when i first started astra i realized i pretty much never used the stun, and only used the pull for postplant situations

People saying speed is the most imprortant thing don't know shit about Astra. Ofc you gotta not take 20 years to put up a star but in general the most important thing is to have an actual understanding of Astra utility in particular her smokes. They are significantly bigger than anyone else's smokes which means that they offer other possibilities on a variety of maps. You also need to be good at placing good reactive stars that acolplish more than just a basic random smoke. My tip would be to watch boaster's Astra videos, and his videos on smokers in general, he is very good at explaining what is the purpose of each smoke and when to use them, what makes them different to another kind of smoke, ect... it will make your personal playbook deeper and allow you to take the andvantage over your opponents in a bunch of different scenarios

i mean, shes the only controller that i dont know how to play, so thats one of the main reasons why i want to learn her
99% of the time your teammates won’t know how to play around an astra so be more proactive on communicating where and how you’re going to use your supporting util

i think it's important to place stars fast because that's one of the only a few ways you can selfishly use astra utility
but i agree as a traditional smoker placing stars fast is actually not important at all, because you can place them prebarrier or whenever and just activate them during the site hit

that's fine if you're having fun with astra, i like playing her a great deal
all i'm saying is clove single controller is viable in ranked on literally any map (maybe besides breeze) at any rank, all the way until radiant, and will help you rank up much faster
playing aggresively with her util in lower ranks will catch a lot of people off guard
kinda the issue is that from iron to plat people kinda play awkardly so kinda hard to comm like smokes for them also
