more like org cup, basically ewc will host different esports tourneys for different games (not just val) and org gets points each time they win or get a good placing. org that gets the most points get extra prize money on top of the money they get from each game. so yeah while it is a mickey tourney for the game, it is kinda important for the orgs.
If you are actually asking and not just baiting, Its a competition that has been happening every year in Riyad, Saudi Arabia, there are lots of games from every genre that gets played there, orgs get paid more if they are successful across all games.
Last year riot was already present with LoL and I think TFT, this is the first year for Valorant, Valorant should be present for the next couple of years.
Some ppl are against it, because it is part of the plan of the Saudi Arabian government to diversify their resources for the future by generating tourism, because at some point they will run out of oil (their main source of income), and they also hope to change the image the western world has of them
