how much weight does ewc hold
are we giving it masters or champs value
or is it just another mickey mouse off-season tourney

offseason but higher
but not as high as a masters
only higher than normal offseason events because of prize pool

frogger
kuruk [#4]so mickey mouse off season
actually fuck dat i'd probably say its the same as having a regional trophy except its international
organised by riot = relevant
organised by third parties = irrelevant
apparently cod now holds ewc in high regard despite dismissing it in the beginning but im not a cod player so idk how factual this statement is
I think about as big as Masters cause of the prize pool, and the fact only top teams are getting invited + open qualifers
If peoples favorite team wins theyll hold it as a champs level tourny in reality its like a redbull homeground with more money
grisx23 [#9]Someone doesnt watch CS stuff
quick rundown? they have bajillion tournaments im not gonna watch every single one of em nor do i gaf about the cs community
redbull homegrounds, is has money to motivate, but its in a middle of the year so teams will not go all in with strats

there's nothing open about those quals only for vct teams that means they could have just invited top 4 teams from VCT stage 1 and it wouldn't have made a difference

i think he was refering to the "organised by third parties = irrelevant" part, most of cs (/dota) tier 1 lans are organised by 3rd parties, however it works differently in riots games, they have very structured comp system and anything outside of the official system is... less relevant, apex for exapmle also holds ewdc to the hights of official lans but thats because you dont have to be cautious about revealing strats or anything
right now its like a better red bull homeground.
However i can see is gaining legitimacy over time and become a masters level in a few years. But not now. And definitely nowhere close to champs
We discount it entirely and don't watch it cause its sports washing by the saudi government
the same as a master. same top team as toronto, similar prize pool & good format.

oh i see what you mean now yeah, tbf csgo held third party-organised tournaments since its inception whereas riot always stuck to their own schedule so ppl watching riot games arent really used to them, ewc needs to happen first before any judgements can be made
