It is beyond heartbreaking to see the T2 scene just implode like this. Who knew that a few players leaving would cause this much of a gap in skill level. And it's not like the players who left are doing good in T1, it's the complete opposite.

Japanese tier 2 is finished, at least for this year. I just watched one map of this and it shocked me to see how much it resembles a low immortal ranked game.

I feel this isn't exclusive to JP. I mean why would you play like a superstar if:

A. No T1 team will pick you up because of THEIR incompetence and limited spots
B. Almost nothing can be earned in the T2 itself.

#31
bubblecattxx
2
Frags

I've mentioned in a few of these threads that jp T2 this year are mostly recycled players from tier 1/2 and year after year these players do not seem to have improved whatsoever. With the fact that JP orgs are so happy to just reuse these players while neglecting to find and train rookies will cause the eventual death of the t2 scene.

It is lucky riot gave academy teams a spot to compete in T2 this year else there is nothing to get excited about for the future of this scene tbh

#32

With how Riddle performed last year with ex zeta academy players + veterans of Joxjo and Seoldam, I am VERY SURPRISED none of the orgs tried to replicate that success this year.

Yeah Ionlywatchvcj is right, jp orgs are stupid

#33

The old people in suits making the decisions only see the short term profit. They want to do the old ZETA method of creating a fan favorite team, they will do more content, fan events, all that bullshit so they can sell more merch. They don't care about the competitive integrity. They will slowly kill the scene fully.

It's comical how the only hope left are content creator made teams like Murash and Riddle.

All I can say is, it's kind of unfortunate that the life expectancy in Japan is so high. A time will come, but it's far away.
