why do people call acends win a fluke?

I don't completely agree but the reasons people cite:
- Gambit were on very little sleep, since they played that legendary series against kru the day before
- Single elim
weren't Gambit players who didn't get their 8 hours of sleep before the day of the GF? I mean they were VERY tired
I think Chron has talked about how Riot fucked them over vs KRU and made them play on like very little to no sleep, but also Acend is the one with the trophy so does it matter?
My main thing is that all of 2021 is plumber era and that single elim tournaments are bullshit and should be counted as lesser
WHY THE FUCK DID WE MAKE REJKYAVIC A DOUBLE ELIM BRACKET AND THEN RUIN BERLIN AND CHAMPIONS?????
there was a massive thread about it and it came down to gambit having little sleep + really horrible microtimings on multiple maps that would've easily made them win certain maps but they got "super unlucky" on those timings and lost because of it.
I personally did not watch that final closely and cannot verify those claims.
yeah from what it seems like. every game is down to luck to an extentbut because this one the luck was not in the favor of the team they liked more, it's a fluke
It also doesn't help that they're probably the only winners to have that drastic of a fall off after winning nobody else has had it THAT bad
yea that’s also true, EG players were forced to split up so i can’t say they fell off badly but i definitely think they’d make it two atleast TWO internationals if they stuck together
It was a good series.. 3-2. nAts was my favorite player during those times and he did well still, but I just remember cNed owning especially the last map.
Because they were handed a win after they already lost since Riot gave them an unprecedented ruling. If Acend would have lost to Vivo Keyd like they were supposed to they wouldve had to play Gambit in the first round of playoffs instead of Grand Finals and wouldve lost then instead
I don't believe any match is a 100% loss, not even mibr vs prime geng
but I believe a Gambit, the best team of 2021, with proper rest before the biggest grand finals of their lives, would have won that match
But also Acend won champs 2021 so does my opinion really matter? No
Because its pretty well known that Gambit was heavily weakened in the grand finals due to scheduling and things out of their control. That would not have been the case if they played in the first round of playoffs. Also not to mention that if the grand finals would have played out the exact same as a bo3 instead of a bo5 Gambit would have stomped Acend, and that was on a weak day for them
I think exhaustion on Gambits end but the real thing was the Vivo Keyd incident which should have eliminated them from the tourney (they still almost lost breeze despite being gifted a 7-0 lead because of the cam). this tainted the rest of their run
because most of the players did not amount to much after that (not even right after). Except for cNed, and even then he didnt do much.
