EMEA has never, ever been the best region.

They always had a single team 1v9 carrying their entire region every year, yet their delusional fans and a bunch of outsiders that got pilled have been convinced that at SOME POINT, EU/EMEA was the best.

2021 - Despite the fact that CIS isn't even EU, I'm still going to mention the hard carry by GAMBIT because the common belief right now is that CIS is part of EMEA which just isn't true, so technically for this year, ACEND that hard fluked their champs win with the easiest road ever was their best team.

2022 - Hard carried by FPX (indisputable)

2023 - Hard carried by FNC (indisputable)

2024 - No hard carry = exposed as being the worst region.

The info only speaks for itself, so can we please stop pushing this false narrative that EMEA now is suddenly bad, they've always been bad.

So emea always been a one team carry region ? One team just far ahead of everyone else?

"one team just far ahead of everyone else" That really only goes for GAMBIT (technically a CIS team, not even EU) respectfully and I'm talking about comparing entire regions with all of their teams.

Best team of 2022 was OPTIC, if not then LOUD

Best team of 2023 was EG

EG, who placed top 16 at lock-in, 3rd in Americas, 2nd in Tokyo, and 1st at champs was better than fnatic who placed 1st in lock-in, 1st in Emea, 1st in Tokyo, and 4th in champs? EG was the best team itw at the end of 2023, not the best team of 2023

LOCK//IN really has no meaning, even less than winning Kick Off so I don't understand why we're counting that.

They were not 1st in EMEA haha.

Everything else is respectable, however 4th in Champs (the most important event) by being embarrassed twice by LOUD is just proof that EG had the better year.

And EG got embarrassed by fnatic twice in Tokyo, won 2 trophies that year as well. Champs trophy might be more valuable than a masters trophy, but 2 trophies is still more impressive because they were on top of valo for longer

Trust me no pro or remotely intelligent person thinks that fnatic wasn’t the best team of 2023.

"EG got embarrassed by FNC twice in Tokyo" not really? EG took FNC to a very, very close first match despite the fact that FNC were the heavy favourites, and in all honesty their 3-0 loss that looked really close for each map was 90% due to the map veto advantage FNC had for winning their first series against them because of how different their map pools are. If EG had the advantage then it would've been a 3-0 for them, they just don't mesh well together when it comes to map pools and pros like Ethan have backed up that claim.

A million-dollar Champions trophy is definitely more valuable than a Masters + LOCK//IN win, almost double in value and prestige to be exact. Again I'm just being objective.

That last sentence is just silly haha.

EG got 13-3ed on lotus when the played the first time. You could certainly argue that loud were more dominant against fnc than fnc against loud, but EG won one map after playing 6. Regardless of the closeness, it is still dominant.

So be able to play well in one international tournament and winning it is more impressive than doing it in 2?

Lotus was FNC's pick and EG still brought the series to a very close map 3, don't know how you think that makes the series look dominant for FNC haha. You're coming off as very biased with that one.

Again, you're rating the importance of Champions to the same value as Masters + LOCK//IN when one of these tournament is literally an open bracket single tourney elim with nothing on the line. If any other region won LOCK//IN then I still wouldn't care about it.

Winning lock-in is still an achievement, regardless of whether you believe it isn’t
To me being able to win it back to back with a masters is more impressive than winning champs, but clearly you disagree
We aren’t getting anywhere with this so let’s just agree to disagree

OPTIC placed 2nd in Champs and won a Masters. Infinitely better than FNC's 4th place for Champs and 2nd place finish for the EMEA League.

Optic didn’t win a single regional title in all of 2022
Loud won champs and champs is more important than master right

If you think LOUD had a better year then you can believe that, doesn't really change my point though.

Ultimately trophies are just trophies, it’s more impressive to be the best team for a longer period of time
U can call champs trophies more impressive than 2 trophies but fnatic were the best team from São Paulo to when the lost to loud in champs

FNC were not the best team of the EMEA League, and if you seriously want to count that LOCK//IN so badly when there are way more factors to count that tourney out than not is whatever. I'm just being objective here.

I thought optic didn't win a single domestic title in 2022, because they were beaten by guard and xset?

stop trolling

best team of 2021: GAMBIT easily
best team of 2022: OPTIC/LOUD (OPTIC more consistent and didnt bomb out like LOUD in copenhagen so ig OPTIC)
best team of 2023: FNATIC easily (EG literally were nobodies before MIBR beat 100T and got em into playoffs)

Berlin’s top 4 was equal Emea and equal na, Emea won that tourney, making them the best region. In champs, not a single na team was in playoffs. Ascend 2-0ed Envy, liquid beat sentinels, and liquid 2-0ed cloud9. So how exactly were Emea not the best region in 2021?

Guess what a single team is what it takes to win a tourney

If you think FNC being the only relevant EMEA team last year while the rest are getting repeatedly washed by literally everyone makes them the best region then you are misguided and misinformed.

That is factually wrong, for example

Look at this bracket with 4/8 teams from EMEA, tf does KRU run have to do with EMEA being better

But even without GMB there’s still 3 EMEA teams there who was supposed to be better region then?

this is true, europeans are just filthy dogs who bark but have no bite, they bite the hand that fed them all their wins, every single team that has won from europe has had a cis player

emea was definitely the best in 2021

you can say one team region but which region was actually not a one team region according to your thinking?

if 2021 emea (two different tourney winners in a super deep region) was a one team region then what was NA in 2022? what was apac in 2021?

this is dogshit bait. its gonna work tho because all the emea users fled the site now that they have 0 teams in playoffs 😂

the one team region thing while very true for 2023 emea has been taken and ran with by casuals. calling everything a one team region or a mickey mouse tourney is so lazy.

the only real good example of a one team region is emea 2023, everything else is a lazy comparison
