getting tired of all this vibe talk by SEN

allat post for the big brained

vibes r important dont get twisted but literally every person affiliated with SEN last year always blamed their performance on having bad vibes and how they think they got a chance this year bc their vibes are good again like im tired of hearing this. they had a good mental entering Americas last year but everything started to collapse once they faced a few losses and they couldn't recover from it, NRG went thru the same thing with FNS even saying that the vibes the entire year were bad for them but they still made up for it by actually focusing on the game that led to them having a comeback into the Americas finals.

its always vibes this, vibes that, mental diff, blahblahblah, fr just power thru it like everybody else. EG also had a terrible start and even made a desperate starter change, then they realized that Demon1 was cracked even though their vibes were still shit at the time so they just played thru allat in order to improve and look what happened and how good the rest of EG became. SEN will face a loss and take it to heart every time and you can literally see it from their gameplay alone on how lost they look whenever shit starts to go bad.

When shit goes sour its always "focus on yourself", when things go really wrong its always "oh but we still played well", when they lose an important series its always "oh but we had the game in our hands" even when they get completely outclassed, and then there's the little things like the associating confidence confidence with unnecessary peeks, ALLAT strictly for morale boosts.

This part of their vlog in their match vs EG ticks off literally all the boxes I mentioned. Even though EG at the time were a decently strong team and were unbeknowningly on the path to become the best team itw, SEN's entire gameplan against them boiled down to "we're the better players so lets just skill gap them bc SEN > EG" and "just disrespect them, who cares about how we play" even though this was a must win match for playoffs chances. Then when they lose they're all like "oh nooo how did we lose to EG even though they're so bad and we're so much better oh nooo", Zekken even goes the extra mile in saying that EG just had a good day that day when their performance at the time wasn't even close to their peak form from what we've seen this year.

this iteration of SEN hasn't faced a loss yet but it's obvious atp to assume they're gonna start doubting themselves for the rest of the year if they fail to make it out of their group or something. There's been literally no improvement from them since 2021 in the sense that they will always collapse onto themselves when losses come pouring in.

My favorite vibes moment is when Clown9 gets BTFO'd by DRX at LOCK//IN and Zellsis is laughing on stage

Gotta keep that morale up even though you were too heavy to get carried by yayster the GOAT

They're mental and chemistry aren't going to drop after they lose to LOUD. They'll come back stronger, watch.

everything started to collapse once they faced a few losses

Oh yea cause constant role/player changes, an IGL who doesnt want to play, are not big issues

I think "vibes" are actually very important from an ergonomic point of view. Morale has always been something that teams in other sports, the military, and even office jobs have genuinely considered to be a contributing factor the the team's overall success.

That's not to say that vibes alone are what will win SEN everything, but I do genuinely believe they're a large factor.

All teams have set plays and some degree of coordinated executes or fakes, but whether the players themselves can execute their role in the script well is entirely up to how confident they feel doing those plays. This is further determined by how much chemistry the players on a team have with that very role, and I don't even mean agent-wise.

Take for example Sentinels at the very start of the year. Yeah Yeah they had barely any time to practice, but also, Dephh as an IGL has a very slow approach to taking map control, and calls for a lot of defaults. This worked with Zekken, because Zekken was used to it on XSET. pAncada is lurker, but on an agent he wasn't used to playing and having to anchor sites a lot more, Sacy was used to setting up Aspas to go in aggressively, and TenZ has never been really compatible with a slow style of playing, he thrives in chaos. The only one that knew how to play off this playstyle was Zekken.

It's a controversial take, but I don't think Dephh's igling is actually that bad, but he just did not have a roster that could adjust well with the script. It was like trying to direct a realistic period piece with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the main lead. None of the players on SEN during the early parts of last year felt very confident being able to play their role very well. He would've probably had a lot better success with a different pool of players--maybe not too much success but definitely more success than he did.

If you want an even worse example of a team struggling due to confidence, just look at 100T throughout 2023, they had ideas, but they were so bad at executing them. Everyone was always scared of taking gunfights, and by the end of the year they were performing much worse than at the start. Not only that, but they never felt creative. They felt like they were trying to stick to the plan no matter what, and didn't deviate from it one bit even if they saw an opportunity that was there from them individually.

In my opinion: Vibes = Morale = Confidence = Better executed plays, more creativity, the necessary confidence in your own abilities to deviate from the plan when you feel like it's necessary.

The reason why I like Zellsis on SEN so much is because no matter if the team is down 2-10, he'll still be able to bring the team's morale up somewhat. We've all been there where we basically start giving up on a game or feel like there's nothing we can do about what the enemy team is doing, but if you've ever made a crazy comeback you know exactly what I mean about team morale and how its necessary to be able to go all the way.

Not only that, but this year's Sentinel's has a much more aggressive IGL who's calling style fits the players a lot more, which only improves their confidence as each player returns to a style that they're more comfortable with

I agree with everything you’ve said, vibes are vital for the reason you’ve listed, and it’s why I believe SEN priotizing it to the point where it directly interferes with their actual gameplay in a negative manner. They focus on it TOO much in order to keep everybody’s heads high at all times and I don’t know what’s up with that. SEN vs EG link is a great example of what I’m taking about, instead of focusing on their set strats and whatnot heading into map 2, they just kept up the belief in that they’re the better players and got punished for their lack of preparation.

Teams that succeed have a balance of both, SEN aren’t doing that at all and from the looks of their excuses, it’s why I believe we might see another 2023.
