Esports is already incredibly unstable, getting rid of franchising would mean that many orgs would leave the scene

if they were going to dominate why didn't they dominate in open qualifiers to challengers and then qualify for franchising

I think its less motivating to compete when u get no pay vs when u do get paid

you get minimum salary when you qualify to franchising iirc, even if you don't have an org you either find one or Riot pays you
I think a no-namer squad could somehow roll through qualis and challengers and if they do so they'd get the 5k minimum monthly somehow

I get what you mean but by "nah fuck it get rid of all the orgs, all the 5 stack ranked player with no pay about to dominate" I was just joking, wasn't being serious

nah you're good if you're joking
I've just heard actual people say "if franchising didn't exist all this new talent would crop up and dominate the scene" when they could just do it in challengers through open quali and then franchising. I do agree that franchising does suck and Kiko is also fully correct in #9.

they have to drop ridiculous money on contracts and being part of franchising in the first place, it's cheaper in open circuit for pretty similar likelyhood of winning it all. + there would be more orgs in open circuit seeing as all of tier 1 would actually be tier 1, rather than split between vct and vcl. My evidence for that last part is all of the orgs that left valorant due to not making franchising (LG, ghost, etc) and that number is rising.

The orgs that left valorant were only in because of franchising in the first place

they were competing to try and make it into franchising

getting rid of franchising would mean that orgs would have absolutely no stability, and if they have a single bad season they'd leave the game

i dont think that's true. teams were competing for 2 full years before franchising was even mentioned. I highly doubt riot had the intention to do franchising before late 2021/early 2022. Even so, some orgs like faze stayed up until the end of this past vcl season, so not all teams that exited valorant left just as franchising came around. idk if you have a source for that but im not saying its not true, im just doubting it. and as far as stability goes, it wasn't a problem before, so why would it be now? orgs main source of income is merch sales and content creation, if they win anything thats a big bonus. if anything more players in the open circuit means more people to pick up for the org which would lead to more money. there are a lot more points that could be made but i just cant be asked rn.

It was a problem before, the orgs were losing massive amounts of money trying to buy their way into franchising

orgs main source of income isn't enough for them to stay profitable, most are hemorrhaging money

i obviously wouldn't know which format is better for orgs making money but seeing as EG just won champions and still had to pay cut their world champion roster (which has since left), i'd say they arent doing to hot in franchising. That's just one example. I believe sen also said something about their income being horrid. Either way valorant clearly is not profitable for these orgs at the moment. Theres arguments for both sides, no point to keep going. Only way to definitively know is if we were the orgs themselves.

In pretty much every game that doesn't have franchising, EG left the game entirely

If there wasn't franchising, EG wouldn't be in valorant

yeah im sure they put everything into their valorant team because it was their best performing team, i dont think that is a point for franchising. and as i said before, theyre clearly in the shitter money wise.

they didn't put everything into their valorant team, they cut all their players

yeah currently they got no bread bro, so they cant afford their world class roster, which i already said. Im saying before they won champs they hard committed to valorant and it paid off. Now they drop their entire roster and pick up league minimum contract players to stay alive for the next year. they arent sustaining themselves in franchising.
