"🚨 Ex-rioter criticizes company, states that there is "systemic discrimination" and intention to "erase Brazil" from competitive LoL and Valorant."

The article writer said:

"I contacted Riot about these statements and have not heard back so far. If Riot responds, the article will be updated with the publisher's position."

https://www.sbt.com.br/variedades/sbt-games/fiquepordentro/263185-lol-ex-rioter-critica-empresa-por-favorecer-eu-e-na-e-apagar-o-brasil

The article is in Portuguese but it should not take long until there's in English as well (you can always translate).

---

And people used to say that we were crying that Riot didn't like Brazil. 💀

@edit

It's funny seeing the replies in this thread already that people saying it's a cry. But if you are 0.0000000000000000000000000001% smart you will notice that what they are doing with T2 is making regions like BR and LATAM impossible to compete in the upcoming years. It happens with League of Legends for years now and will also happen with Valorant.
And by the way, stop being a weirdo and read the article :)

This sounds more like you dream you get hit with a crowbar everyday, and cry about it in the morning

So tell, me, according to you, Riot hates Brazil more than any other region in the world?

No, Riot doesnt hate us, they just dont give a shit, and coddle the big NA and EMEA region.

Alright, fair, then by that statement, this other statement "Ex-rioter criticizes company, states that there is "systemic discrimination" and intention to "erase Brazil" from competitive LoL and Valorant." Sounds like crying and victimizing.

Let's assume you're right Riot prefers EMEA and NA, the rest of the world is not Brazil

Not exactly, she is Brazillian so she is complaining about mistreatment to her region. but the thing is, both statements could be true at the same time, yes riot doesnt give a shit about us AND the rest of developing countries, you can also say that because they favour NA and EMEA this does indeed erase other regions, because they get no love, the scene doesnt develop. Riot can be mistreating multiple regions at once.
I mean LATAM is basically already dead in LoL

Well I don’t really understand how Riot benefits EMEA, and our tier 2 is just as dead

And NA, ig you mean that they host the league there and not in Brazil. But if you were to do it the other way around it wouldn’t make sense either, and tier 2 would be even more dead

But anyway that’s not my point, the point is that yes this IS victimization, is crazy that people still don’t see it. If you disagree with the way Riot runs the game then just say that, there is no necessity to make it about yourselves. Absolutely half of the world could make exactly the same article with the same or even more reasons for it, but they don’t, it’s always the same. You must understand it gets tiering

cuz it doesnt make them money. ever wondered why there are no african or middle eastern teams? there is not much money to be made from developing countries so they favour NA and europe since it makes them money
brand deals, marketing, merch, every well off industry is dominated by either europe or NA so they cater to them

if NA orgs arent making money, theres no hope for other regions. i wonder how VCT will look in 2-3 years from now with how broke the esports industry has been recently

idk about the report, but Ascension indeed sucks
NA teams constantly scrim with franchise while BR and LATAM orgs can only scrim each other.

Riot had 3 LANs in Brazil in a year

Riot has a dogshit tier 2 system, its not only Brazil but every region in both league and valorant
no need to play the victim

NA players can't play against BR teams because of the ping (BR can play against LATAM). All the franchise teams are in NA.
European players can play on almost all servers. All the franchise teams are in Germany.
APAC players can play on almost all servers (for example JP/KR can play each other). All franchise teams are in Korea.

NA teams will be WAY more prepared to face T2 teams from BR/LATAM that they compare against in Ascension and do you know what Riot answered: "we expect that teams from Franchise when they go back home they practice against the T2 teams in their region"... LOUD is in vocation and most teams as well, the time that the teams go back to their region is usually at the end of the year when teams are changing.

NA teams will be WAY more prepared to face T2 teams from BR/LATAM

what about EDG and BLG? they only had eachother to scrim against or were forced to scrim apac teams at high ping.

even loud back in 2022 when brazil was a one team region dominated internationally even though they only had BR/LATAM teams to scrim against

The best teams in China are in China, the best teams in Brazil are in NA, the comparison makes no sense, if the three franchised teams in Brazil were here, history would be different

Even so, we are producing good teams, but these teams have a limit on how far they can go since the best teams train in NA, while what is left is a bunch of tier 2/3 teams from Brazil and Latam without any investment to practice

A lot what she is saying is not riot "discriminating against brazil" its more of riot failing to accommodate everyone as a whole.
The point about franchising as an example, if riot wanted to kill brazil they could've easily only given Brazil 2 slots.
Also the effect on T2 due to franchised has been felt globally.

If the CBLOL want's to be taken more seriously then they need to actually perform at international events.

If they're trying to "erase Brazil" from Valorant then what are they doing to the countries in Polaris?

The article just comes off as super whiny without even trying to establish any facts

Looking exclusively at valorant then no they're not doing anything special to try and get rid of br
In one of the (according article) favored regions, EMEA, t2 teams cant get signed at all and play as FA for years (or have to sign to orgs that dont even exist and as such dont get paid at the end of the day either... oh and the org that doesnt exist owns the slot in t2 too, so gl)

All thats happening is Franchising not working out how Orgs and (hopefully) riot envisioned it and as such the landscape is shifting to match the current reality. Yes it sucks, it really does, and as a Polaris fan Id want nothing more than for Riot to fix t2, but thats just not their goal atm and its affecting everyone and every region.
