Why scrims don't matter

Gambit, a team that shits on everyone in scrims collapses under pressure (apparently I don't remember the Gambit run as accurately as I thought (I'm sorry, a better example would've been ABX) this being said my message is still correct... and I go back to retirement) ... some teams are trying new stuff so it really doesn't matter what Scream says about sentinels or Vikings.... we won't know how good everyone is until we get to see them play... I said it... now that I have said my piece.... I retire until Masters starts.... until then I will go watch R6 and League majors that are going on. Thank you

vanity was talking about this too, that for some reason some teams are insane in scrims and that they get totally shit on sometimes but those teams never perform with even half that ability in matches. I think its just that valorant has too many variables that create randomness when people don't play entirely disciplined plus team like to try all the new team comps/ability combos stress free that might not necessarily make it to their matches.

Gambit was pretty close to qualifying for Iceland. Saying they "collapse under pressure" is pretty dumb. You probably didn't even see their match vs fnc.

What?? Gambit played insanely well in officials tho. They just got a top tier opponent in semis. Just because Fnatic won them 2-0 doesn't mean it wasn't a close game, trust me it was too close for comfort. No team has ever taken Fnatic off guard like that in Bind.

Gambit have a 91% winrate on Ascent, which would've been the next map so it could've easily went their way.

That doesn't mean, that I don't overall agree with the message, but just stating facts about Gambit. Maybe BBL is a better example with how Nukkye hyped them?

-gambit collapses under pressure
-back to back champions in CIS
-shits on FPX and BBL. Almost won against fnatic.

Gambit is good, but yea, scrims dont determine a team's potential

With all the mixed reports about each team, I would say that it's possible there isn't that much separation between the preconceived favorites and underdogs. Also, as was said, teams aren't going to reveal all their strats during scrims for obv reasons so that would def affect their performance.

I agree with the take but Gambit is an incredible team in both scrims and officials. It is true that teams run new strats in scrims and will even hide certain ones from specific teams. However, Gambit is amazing, and I wish there was a CIS spot for them to qualify through.
