All the way to Brazil for this?

I just can’t help but sit here and be annoyed that Riot makes these people and teams travel from all over the world to Brazil to play in a tournament only for it to be a single elim bracket.

Anyone else bothered by this? I feel like they either should have reduced the amount of participants, extended the length of the tournament or run multiple games at the same time to allow double elim brackets at the very least in the group stage. I could be alone in thinking this though.

the format's goal is to promote all regions and teams, which is working rn, APAC/BR/KR stock is through the roof because of this tournament

its fineee every team gets a huge bag from the skins bruh. its totally worth. its a kick off tournament anyway.

imagine traveling and seeing the world playing video games with everything paid

nAH, this tournament it is a warm up for the season, SE it is ok imo

franchising introduces a lot of bad teams that are unfun to watch, there's no way around it

you can either: let the first week of the tournament be a snoozefest

or : do lock//in style and have no placements outside of top 3 really matter

both scenarios aren't ideal but welcome to franchising

Double Elimination is like 63 matches. Group Format takes 64 matches. Even if you have 3 matches a day, the tournament lasts for 22 days and thats a lot for a pre season tournament.

And don't forget that Champions already have been a 26 match tournament so far and increasing a Pre season tournament by such a big amount would make fans wish to have Champions run longer (might just expect it to run 2-3 months with more matches) and thats way too stressful for players to keep their momentum going for too long in such a tournament.
