Not to be pessimistic but we may currently be witnessing the esports industry bursting.

Too many teams over spending, inflated wages.
So many rely on outside investment.
Operating on huge losses

All the signs point to the esports industry being a massive bubble

We are starting to see teams be impacted by this in different stages.
C9 and other orgs with layoffs.
Renegades with 0 active esports rosters
Order with 💥

Only orgs growing right now are the ones focusing on merchandise or content creation.
Wouldn't be surprised to see some deflation in player salaries and some orgs pulling out of less valued teams/games

translate for other countries: only orgs growing are those focused on becoming profitable

I mean you are not wrong.
But the primary focus is shifting away from esports to other forms of media.

Won't see much of these mega cross game orgs anymore.

The point is the over spending and instability of the industry is now being exposed

dont sports leagues make a majority of their money from broadcasting deals and ads and sponsers? Esports only really has 1 of those 3 to any major degree so it makes sense for it to be pretty difficult to remain profitable

Maybe we’ll have an esports recession. Wages rise until people just stop spending money, and after a while of people not paying money, then the wages go back down. A lot of people will lose spots on teams. But it will be like a reset button.

Yeah.
i just think we have reached the point now that the over spending is finally catching up.
esports is probably way more risky due to how fast games can die

this isnt a esports recession, its a real global recession that's induced by the feds to control inflation

and in a recession, non essential goods and businesses (like esports) are hit the hardest

lots of bankruptcies and liquidation are happening as we speak

Pengland losing to a french side missing like 5 key players.

Yeah, the only massive names you see everywhere are like Fnatic, TL, Cloud9, FURIA and Navi to an extent. I am not super versed on the asian scene, so someone can enlighten me on that.

Nah salaries were skyrocketing before the recession. This is an esports issue.
