Every single team in the world can lose a map against anyone, if you want to have a league that has the best teams to come out on top, then you want to have their performances not reduced to a single map. Of course bo2 isn't ideal, but it allow them to not lose an entire week of preparation because they fucked up one single map. I don't know if you would call that bo2 or just two maps but the idea is the same
There's a misconception here tho my friend, regardless of my opinion that Bo2 is boring af, people keep saying that it's fairer and that is just not true.
What you're thinking is that if two teams have to play a game is better for them to play two maps than one, seems obvious right? But no because that is just not the case, you're not taking into account that this league has a time limit you can't play as many games as young want. All Bo2 leagues play 2 games a day and once against every team during the league, meanwhile, Bo1 leagues play 5 games a day and twice against each team during the league.
This means that for 1 Bo2 played in the league 2 Bo1are played in the other one, so same amount of maps, but more spaced in time so teams have a higher chance of improving throughout the competition and without the possibility of ties that simply sucks to spend 2 hours watching a game that no one won, the same feeling than tying a ranked.
I understand what you're saying, and I agree with the first part, but I think it's not where I was going. You said that they couldn't play 2maps because it wouldn't be logistically possible with the time they have, but I'm not criticizing the regional league per se, but in that case I would blame riot for having such time limits, or having too many teams to handle. You said that in bo1 leagues they play each team twice, but are they taking into account map bans? As I understand, every team gets 3 map bans per match, meaning they can basically play the whole league while practicing only 4 maps and could theoretically get the 1st seed without having to even scrim the other 3. This, imo, isn't good for fomenting competence and quality of teams. This isn't solved by having the teams play again on a later date, since they would still have 3 bans for that day afaik. I think it's fine as well to have draws, football, the most popular sport itw has it, and nobody complains about it. I agree it's not the best for entertainment but I'd say the pros outweigh the cons. (I'd still rather see a bo3 way more tho)
Well yeah obviously is Riots fault and the best would be all bo3, but the time it’s what it is, 4 days a week max, and to do bo3 is not viable, obviously we are talking about the best format with what we have
Okay I see your points in the maps but that’s not really true, for example on the Spanish league 6/10 teams advance to playoffs where everything is Bo5, so yeah, “congrats you prepared 3 maps only and you got a 6th place, amazing”. See not working don’t worry about that.
And yes in traditional sports they have ties, because that’s simply how the game works and you can’t have the players do overtimes every single game. But actually they do play bo1 in traditional sports, they play twice against each team one game each time, literally the same case. Not two games in a row just once which would be a Bo2.
But yeah regardless or it is more fun of not which I get is subjective opinion, it’s not more unfair than Bo2 is as people wants to make it look
