APAC needs to be merged

EU is so strong mainly because they can pool the best players from different countries and make great teams. Look at teams like G2, FNC, TL, ACE, players from so many different countries. APAC region need to get rid of country based qualifier and min 3 from a country rule, then there'll be some pretty cracked teams imo.

Would immensely increase the viewership, and hopefully would give Oceanic players more opportunities :D

facts APAC teams gotta start pulling in OCE talent to SEA

#26

nah its the otherway around, SEA has 10x more population than OCE

beside that OCE will start import SEA talent because OCE have better currency and can sign more talent more cheap

that would kill off so many teams

It would birth newer better teams

in the short term. it will be so much harder for new talent to enter and get recognised

Why? Literally same system in EU and they constantly have new talent

thats bcoz of the regional league system. riot can do same structure for APAC + JP + KR but ones lan is possible for every event.

The leagues will also come to APAC, you know that right?

apac is much larger than eu. not to mention eu has a regional leagues where players get scouted. think about it like this, if there is no regional vct then how do you expect newer talent (who will prob have much worse teams) to look good against the powerhouses of apac.

yeah, i think so too. there's 6 qualifiers live in APAC right now. I think they should've just implemented the VRL system with promotion-relegation they have in EMEA.

no thats dogshit

That’s better because then we could’ve had a 5 week apac main event instead of dogshit open qualifiers

VRL system would be favorable to already established teams and the opposite for upcoming teams open quals aren't dogshit as they give SA teams chance to improve and then just play one APAC challengers to have a chance to go to masters you make it like VRL you never see a SA team in masters Ever as after winning against the teams from other VRL regions you have to face the invited 10/12 teams

the 10/12 teams wouldn't be invited tho, they would be the best performing team from the last challengers. and, i think to give other teams a chance that number should reduced down to only top 4 teams from last challengers. and in EMEA, there is a promotion tournament for VRL winners to get promoted to the challengers. SA can qualify through that into APAC challengers.
imo, this just insures better gameplay, a riot supported t2 tournament and more games to watch. but, i do understand your argument.

I LIKE MERGING BUT THE EMEA SYSTEM IS FUCKING DOGSHIT, 8 BASICALLY PERMANENT MEMBERS, WHAT IS THIS THE UEFA SUPER LEAGUE OR SUM SHIT??

i hate that part too. i think, other than the top 4 of last challengers, other 8 teams should have to play in promotion tournament to qualify.

agree but I think main reason EU is strong is quality of players not so much that there is no country based qualifiers

IDK if Japan or Korea are a part of APAC, but there could be a language barrier as players from those regions aren't the best at English, and signing players from different parts of the continent with language barriers could lead to poor comms, etc. But it would be cool to see nonetheless

Japan and korea separate circuit but language barrier wouldn't be an issue imo, it ain't a problem in EU so it shouldn't be an issue in asia either

Japan and Korea will be merged to Apac North next year along with China because Apac South is already as big as EU

There's an Indian Team called Orangutan which has a Korean, a Filipino, a Pakistani and 2 Indian Players...and they decimated the RoSA qualifier, so I don't think language barrier is a problem for them, so language barrier won't be that big of a problem in General.

Hey, I've seen this topic before!

Short answer; we'll have it for the premier league with KR, JP, and current APAC (SEA, SA, and OCE) teams competing.

But for the Tier 2 teams? No. People don't realize that you already can see the current Challengers system in APAC as a relatively more bigger regional leagues. People often underestimate SEA's size and subregion. 6 subregions with hundreds of teams lying in wait for their chance at glory. That's thousands of players too.

It's a much complicated situation compared to EMEA and the playerbase is much more intrinsically tied to each subregion. National pride is such an important thing here (and everywhere else,) but more so considering that APAC regional Challengers holds more weight rather than EU's Regional Leagues.

At the top, I agree, not completely, but it'll give quite the insight into how APAC+JP+KR teams will compete on an even playing field (2021 APAC LCQ was a mess.)

But for Tier 2 below? Subregion will have a place, and regional leagues will ensure that more new talents will arise.

Also if APAC is to combined without an offline competition, the ping will be severe. It sucks. 2021 APAC LCQ can attest.

Hi ewok just a quickie I wanted to ask you but wondering where to ask (my twitter is blocked :P)

How is the CS/Valo scene in South Africa and how did you end up in APAC?

I think it's a great idea but if there's no LAN tourney, the ping will be a big problem. Can't wait to see the new changes in 2023 tourney.
