Misconceptions about proplay

This idea that grinding ranked = working hard is false. Lets use a proper example of a successful team. Remember Astralis in CSGO? 4 time Major winners. Well newsflash but Astralis players almost never played Faceit Pro League (FPL).

They did their aim routines in aim maps, played bunch of dms for hours and scrimmed. That's all they did for 2-3 years and became the ultimate dynasty in CS history.

Ranked games aren't everything. If you have enough experience playing the maps then all you need is good aim practice, strats and scrims to remain at the top level, also ranked creates bad habits and complacency which is rarely seen vs other pro teams and so some people find it less enjoyable.

TLDR: Scrimming is the most important measure of how well teams prepare not the number of ranked games people grind per day.

Optic is the opposite that's why they climb up. FNS told once before Iceland on tariks stream that Optic play the most scrims out of any team and SEN are the least.

The Guard scrimmed 2nd most to Optic and they took number 1 last challengers.

Ranked is not trash if you will play rank but dont learn anything than it would be considered trash but if you can learn how to think logically and breakdown what would happen in this particular round, how will they setup their setups e.t.c than you wont need ranked as much as others say but aim training is one of the most important things. Everything is useless if we repeat the same mistakes again and again and dont learn anything

I agree, but I don't believe in scrimbux. There is a lot of hype on reddit when a team wins a bunch of scrims, but scrims are for learning not winning. Ofc you're gonna win sometimes, but I'm more keen on when The Guard played 200 scrims in 3 months; I with that.

it's not genuine to generalize the results from one successful team to every single professional player, since people aren't the same.

some players and some teams will improve more in scrims, and others by grinding ranked. it's having a good balance of the two that fits the players on the team that really makes a team improve well - a lack of either often leads to holes in the play.

I would argue as a glittering generalization, that teams that spend more time playing ranked end up having faster strategic reactions and are more adaptable, while teams that spend time scrimming have a more consistent and rehearsed playstyle.

Its not about winning scrims, the sheer learning experience from scrimming id valuable.

Not saying ranked is trash. It works for some but its not the end all be all type of thing.

You might want to read some tweets from one of the best valo coaches out there Sleepy.

He has mentioned what a pro player's state of mind must be while playing valorant (tournaments, scrimms, aim routines, ranked, DMs everything!).

He talks about the importance of ranked as well as how it builds duo chemistry and clutch potential. For example, he presents Forsaken and Jingg who almost always duo together and are almost always APAC top 3 in leaderboards. He points out that as a result, they are also easily the most explosive duo in the entire world. In the past forsaken used to queue with Davai and they were another set of explosive duos in SEA.

Not every team in the world is like Astralis who every team wants to scrimm against. There will be many teams who struggle to find scrimms against good teams. Maybe they just live in a region where they dominate and hardly any other team to scrimm against. They must be smart and utilize ranked to better themselves.

Ranked can be very useful when used you know what skills you want to develop from ranked.

Valorant is a different game than cs and gets a lot more updates. The more abilities in valorant and things like tps create unique situations that players have to know how to play and the best way to practice and be able to react accordingly in these situations is through ranked. Most people should know that scrimming is what makes a good team, but at least some ranked is necessary to make good players as well.

I speak by experience and most of the time the reason I lose is because I whiff. So I get why these Pros practicing their aim made them so good.

Agree. The only way ranked might be useful is to practice lineups with viper or brim, or to learn a completely new agent

depends on the player honestly playing a lot of fpl/pugs isnt bad either, some players will get bad habits doing it some wont, ropz doesnt play pugs/fpl because he says it builds bad habits but zywoo/s1mple/niko have always played a lot of pugs/fpl, zywoo doesnt even play deathmatch just pugs which is is weird af and he was 2 years in a row hltv top1

also the counter argument is that unlike csgo valorant has a shit of different abilities and that creates more possible scenarios so playing the game a lot specially if ranked which is random af and a lot of random scenarios will happen helps you be more ready for whatever can happen, either way I think its just a player thing, mixwell plays a shit ton of ranked because he said he believes it is needed in valorant because of what I said above and he is fucking dogshit, Chronicle barely plays ranked and he is a top3 player itw in the best team itw (IMO dont cry), for me the best would be scrimming a lot like Gambit and time outside team practice play dm/practice aim/vod review or whatever you feel like doing and playing some ranked from time to time but I dont think you need to play it everyday, maybe 5 games every 3-4 days would be enough
