yeah thunderbolts is a really good comparison in terms of the theme. there it's almost a hinderance to the movie at times but in BND it's the heart and soul of the movie
i understand that and i think the reason i didn't find it to be like that is because ive read my fair share of the earlier ultimate runs in the comics where peter and jean have a lot more history. i kind of get what dustin daniel cretton was going for, jean's origin with her sister is often overlooked but plays very well into the themes of loss with peter, in very similiar ways. i found that one scene at the end with the two in the memory to be one of the most powerful scenes the mcu has done, certainly the strongest writing of the spider man movies. she was her own character but she was also there to complete peter's arc in the movie
