um, if you simply want someone who’s consistently at the top of the leaderboard…
it’s obviously wardell.
now, if you think he gets to the top by baiting and op crutching against Tier 2 opponents, you can totally argue that. but that wasn’t part of the question, was it? 😉
he’s consistent without being overly flashy, and the only time he’s performed “poorly” recently was a 46-52-8 series against RNG. Anytime his team gets a chance to play Tier 1 teams like LG/Knights/100T(1.5ish), he performs well.

yeah i coulda been clearer thanks for opportunity to explain

I meant “fluke” in the most respectful way possible when it comes to Acend and Gambit. It was a very close series between the two best teams in the world at the time, so it’s hard to crown a clear number one after it.

I want Valorant to succeed long term, but my main issue right now is name recognition. CSGO has many big names (s1mple, device, etc) and a decent influx of young talent (m0nesy, for example). Also, the dominant CSGO teams manage to stay dominant for long period of time, thus allowing fanbases to grow around both players AND teams.

Now look at Valorant. Our biggest names are ScreaM, TenZ (lol), cNed (unknown prior), nats (unknown prior), and Tarik (who doesn’t even play the game competitively). The game is going to heavily rely on young talent, so we need to see more players like Cryo/zekken/trent. There aren’t enough S-tier tournaments to establish dominant teams. For example, in NA we’ve seen teams like TSM, 100T, and currently SEN dominate for short periods of time before flaming out. EU has similar issues, where it’s hard to judge dominance vs flukes due to lack of tournaments (is Acend really better than Gambit, for example).

i’m out of ideas now so i’ll shut up but hopefully that gets my point across

it is what it is, i’m just super excited for stage 2. really think they have what it takes to make groups and compete against Tier1 competition again. i just don’t know if they’ll make it out of open quals, considering their numerous chokes and poor performances last season.

TLDR i think they’re better against better competition if they could ever make it there smh

if tsm wasn’t traveling then this would be another fucking banger between them and 100t

in fact, without traveling they would have competed in four tournaments over the span of a month (YFP, Knights Feb, BoomTV, Knights Mar).

100t starting to look like TSM, all we have are ranked clips to share these days :/

“tsm needs to participate in smaller tourneys to improve or else they only care about streaming”
tsm wins smaller tournament
“hahaha mickey mouse winners”

“tsm needs to bootcamp to work on chemistry or else they only care about streaming”
tsm bootcamps
“omg why are they missing the smaller tourneys!”

and the cycle continues

posted about 3 years ago

he’s going to texas, he was just trolling on stream lol. a lot of ppl rumor that he doesn’t like boot camps since he left ASAP last time, so that could be a factor

now if i’m somehow wrong and the situation changes, then there’s going to be a massive dick measuring ego contest between wardell and the VP/mothership over why he didn’t show up.

“typical tsm, holding a boot camp and getting better!!!”

they pulled out of Boom because all of the roster members are traveling to Texas over the next few days. To boot camp. Which everyone wanted them to do and will be helpful. so is that really typical TSM??

anyhow, they’ll be competing in the Knights Monthly next week instead. this is old news btw.

i don’t care for tenz and i’m not saying this to defend him.
but today wasn’t an important game, it’s seeding.

i’m here to say that tsm would not have performed worse than EG, 100T, Rise, or NRG had they made it to groups. Still no excuse obviously, they choked so many times, but i’m hoping i can see them in season 2. it sucks to see teams go 1-4, hopefully they can work out their issues.

Ranked kill records should be limited to Immortal+ lobbies, unless otherwise stated. For example, the silver kill record would carry far less weight.

70 kills in 50 rounds is solid. I heard claims a year ago that YaBoiDre dropped 60 in ranked, but I have no idea how many rounds that took.
XSET Cryo dropped 42 kills in 19 rounds of regulation, which is an impressive KPR.
TSM Rossy dropped 43 kills in 22 rounds on Astra.

+Wardell, wins Masters 2

Here’s a way to look at it.
There are 500 Radiants in NA.
There were (theoretically, and at least) 136 unique teams competing in VCT. That accounts for the 4 invited, 128 in Open Qual 1, and 4 more in Open Qual 2 to replace the 4 that moved on in Open Qual 1. This is based on the assumption that the 124 unsuccessful teams all registered for the second qualifier.
That means there were 680 players in NA VCT, minus a few EU imports.
Very hypothetical math, but TLDR plenty of immortals are competing.
The cutoff for competing in bigger tournaments is either high diamond or immortal, I forget.

i’m all for darkzero, but Boba Boys are the real shit for the other half of the bracket lol. almost beat tsm in the yfp grand final.

shows anything is possible in NA Valorant lol, zero consistency even in the top 4.

tsm beat 100t and LG in close 3 map series and lost to Knights in a close 3 map series. could easily be 7-12th depending on how their luck went in groups lol.

Update: TSM main roster will no longer be competing in the BoomTV main event (per VP) due to team travel. Instead, their next event will be the March Knights Monthly starting on the 21st.

I was genuinely interested to see them compete in a $15k against teams they haven’t beaten in a while (Ghost, Akrew, Andbox, Soniqs), but I assume those same teams will compete in the monthly as well.

it’s more difficult to have a high KD on a team that’s 0-4 versus a team that’s 4-0. especially when your support players, who play a large role in setting up entries, are being swapped out or changing roles.

this isn’t meant to be an excuse, just trying to portray the situation as fairly as possible.

posted about 3 years ago

people tend to overrate jetts more than anything.
i personally underrated penny, my fault, he’s clearly an insane entry.
in the tier 2 scene, there’s corey, who’s brand new to the agent and has markedly improved his entry pathing.

edit: ALSO Knights ban, really underrated (just like the whole team) until this event. can actually op, too, so he’s well rounded from what i’ve seen

I think a roster of Asuna (rifling Jett), Bang (2nd Initiator), Ethan (Sova), jcStani (smokes), and Wardell (Chamber and team op-er) would be fire. Plus a lot of time to prepare.
