Are you tracking https://vlr.gg/transfers?
I've lowkey not been keeping up with Masters at all I'm ngl
🇩🇪 4-1 🇨🇼
🇳🇱 0-2 🇯🇵
🇪🇨 0-1 🇨🇮
🇸🇪 1-1 🇹🇳
themaniel what are your preds for today
This thread is officially the most downvoted thing I've ever posted lmfao
I'd imagine I've pissed off a couple Europeans
Note: This isn't a prediction, this is a power ranking. Just because a team is low doesn't mean I think they'll do poorly, and vice versa.
They're both top 30 teams in the world and Australia is a really bad matchup for Türkiye stylistically... my own prediction was a 2-1 for the Aussies going into it
Also, power level has nothing to do with performance. Again, this isn't a prediction, it's a power ranking... I'm ranking teams based on how good I think they are in relation to every other team
Two top 30 teams in the world and one of them is a really good match against the other stylistically, not crazy to think they could win. If you think Australia are bad then you just don't know ball, my friend
I was expecting a 2-1 for Australia... surprised Türkiye didn't score but I slept through the second half so idk how it played out
He's been injured for months, he's in the final stages of recovery, we're hoping he can play a game or two in groups
It's embarrassing that you haven't tbh 😭 they're very comfortably a top 10 team in the world
They're genuinely good, super underrated going into this tournament and I hope they've proved that
They really do look nice in progression, I don't think Scotland were ready for it
1-1 IS EMBARASSING
Have you heard of the team you're playing against, by any chance?
Preciate you
I'm 5/6 for results now, 4/6 for scorelines
It went to VAR so I'm assuming the ref had multiple angles
It's kinda hard to tell from the angle we got though... I tried lining it up with the lines on the pitch but it's too close to judge
Asking for game preds DURING another game is crazy, don't disrespect the Swiss or my goat Akram Afif like that
That being said, 🇧🇷 1-1 🇲🇦
Oh wait I didn't realize you were Syrian
حلبي؟ حمصي؟
Got diffed by Indonesia unfortunately 😔
If there's anything you want me to try to justify lmk
Top 3 are pretty interchangeable imo but saying the reigning champions being first is delusional is crazy
Yes but they have Marcelo Bielsa so it basically doesn't matter
Given how fast a squad can get better/worse, how small the sample size of competitive matches are (some teams only played six in qualifying), and how infrequent interconfederational matches are, I don't think it's a good idea to ignore friendlies outright. Of course official matches should be factored in much more heavily, and I did try my best to make sure that was the baseline, but to turn a blind eye toward friendlies altogether is the decision here, especially when most of these recent friendlies have been preparation for the World Cup and not just match sharpness matches
I'm open to debate any team's placement... if there's anything you disagree with lmk and I'll give you my justification 👍
I don't disagree... 5-9 are so close they're interchangeable imo, you could put them in any order and it would be fair
They've been declining for about one-and-a-half to two years now... currently they're in arguably their worst generation in a long time and they haven't had any notable results in the past nine months or so
Folarin Balogun being the frontrunner for Golden Boot at any given point in time was not on my bingo card
The USA look incredible, though. It's not just Paraguay... they're a good hecking team and they qualified on merit. The USMNT were just on another level altogether. They've never played this well, ever... it was like watching a different team. I genuinely think these guys got so much confidence from the crowd because they looked like they were unstoppable and having fun as well. Really excited to see the rest of the tournament from these guys
This is by far the best generation they've ever had yes
But also the worst Uruguay have had in a while
I was about to say "VLR levels of overreactionary" but then I realized
The three best wonderkids at this World Cup are Spain's Lamine Yamal, Algeria's Ibrahim Maza, and Mexico's Gilberto Mora
How is it sportwashing if they're actively trying to make this the worst World Cup of all time
They're not miles better, but yes Paraguay are being underrated to the point where it's almost disrespectful
If you're gonna be like that, at least be like that accurately
Mbappé has a Camerounian father and an Algerian mother
Dembélé has a Malian father and a Mauritanian-Senegalese mother
Olisé has a Nigerian dad and a French-Algerian mom
I had Paraguay winning as well until Enciso got injured :(
I'm 2/3 for the World Cup so far though, I had Mexico 2-0 Korea 2-1 Canada 2-1
I love Larin but saying we should've started him is super reactionary considering the number of games he's started for us in the past year and done poorly
Excited for Qatar as well though, also hella excited for Vancouver, their atmosphere is AMAZING
Davies hasn't played for us since March last year tbf it's not like we haven't had time without
I love Richie Laryea though this guy is the real deal, genuinely doing such a good job at LB. Might honestly be worth it to put Davies back at LW like in the old days, especially considering we're low on goals
