there are no players that have played at every international event.

zekken was put on perma duelist and tenz was on Initaitor

I think you can only say this with hindsight, majority of people thought tenz was a capable duelist in 2022 who had just lacked support.

the sacy-dephh-pancada role swaps was a bit bonkers and did hurt the team.
(the reasonings behind it mainly being the fact they wanted the igl to be more involved with util and the team, though now they've signed johnqt to be a sentinel igl? this should suffer from the same "apparent issues")

I was a fan of how ambitious GE 2023 was. (also i have a slight bias to projects with oce players).
So many different interesting pieces coming together, from all over asia.
A good mixture of experience with mechanical youngsters.

It's a shame how it panned out , with a lot of external factors that really hurt the teams performance (player culture/visa/comms/home sickness).

Dsyre has been looking good.... too good.

Weibo should win very easily.
Mad literally only perform versus other european teams.

North America has only won 2 games at worlds versus international opponents, those two games were wins over mad.

posted about a year ago

Where do you see him ending up?

Seems like a strong igl especially if he goes into t2, though there are a few franchised teams that have not finalised their roster.
However a lot of the "top" T2 NA projects are already locked in (oxg/m80/sr).
T2 emea seems unlikely due to financial reasons.

Unless he goes to china?
It would most likely have to be a team locked in for VCT CN franchising, potentially a team like OMG/IG
Otherwise it would've probably been announced already, due to non franchising teams trying to compete and gain points for ascension.

posted about a year ago

Yeah I'm happy with this.
Feels odd not to have shao/suygetsu but the fnc players were so good last year.

Ethan is incredible, probably the best flash support player last year.
He's just a very smart player, his aim isn't incredible but he always uses his util and movement to tip fights into his favour.

posted about a year ago

ascent looked way too comfortable for xit.

posted about a year ago

Probably Laz.

posted about a year ago

true.
but that 2023 roster was built to be a title contender, you don't bring two world champions in for nothing.
Couple that with one of the biggest fanbases in the scene and of course the expectations will start to bloom

posted about a year ago

yeah saadhak would be in my top 5 players of all time.

posted about a year ago

Demon1 is a top 3 player in the world right now.

He is not a top 5 player of all time.
He's been in tier 1 for 6 months, he doesn't have any longevity.

name a single player that has played in 4+ VCT events and has made playoffs every single time.

He is currently a top 5 player of all time.

Cities are too small and unviable to tie an entire organisation to.

There are some newer orgs that primarily focus on 1 country (or language), the likes of karmine corp and Loud.
Which has helped them create a more tight-nit and die hard fan base/culture.

For a lot of the older orgs it didn't make sense to limit themselves to one market due to how small each individual countries esports interest was.
Some of the appeal of esports at the time was the ability to have competition which wasn't bounded by geographical location.

You will see a lot of the older european orgs have spread themselves into the "newer" countries/markets because at the end of the day esports is a business, expansion and capitalising on new opportunities is successful.
Fnc for example have a few teams and content creators in japan.
NIP are on the extreme end with ties to Brazil and China.

Good move.
Very smart and forward thinking coach.
I think he will compliment what boaster does well.

I understand wanting scrimbux when an event is nearby, as it is a small indication on whether a team might do well or not, but at this point of the season it doesn't really show much?

the meta will probably change before the next event, map pool will probably change, some teams aren't even locked in, if scrims are going bad there is still so much time to fix things.

posted about a year ago

Why are you guys so interested in scrimbux at this point of the year?

posted about a year ago

Seems like a better move for the future.
Didn't like how "closed" these t2 leagues were once they commenced.
It pretty much alienated T3 teams again.

Having relegation/promotion between splits will be good.

I would've liked teams to have the ability to have full blown academy rosters in T2 rather than just this two-way system.
However I understand some of riot's reluctances surrounding the competitive integrity of these rosters, especially with how they have handled some decisions in the past.

posted about a year ago

..because it was a big factor in the recruitment process.
T3xture went to geng because he had a better offer, as an example.

posted about a year ago

Swiss is actually fun.
Games have higher stakes.
More top team matchups.
We get a better seeded playoff bracket.

The top teams will still make playoffs.

Maybe some small tweaks to the seeding (bucholz maybe) or prevent inter-region matchups in round 2.

Majority of the groups in the old worlds format were boring.

Chamber players are finished.
Pulling up to the gulag with a classic after their ult gets disabled

Honestly, his Q seems like the best part of the kit.
Should be a pretty useful supportive util.
and it has two charges

C is solid, quite small but it's good for taking space.

E's usefulness will be lowered considering you have to get a kill/damage first and then aim way above head height to collect a shield.
Similar to reyna, the ability will help you snowball.

Ult is okay depending on the cost, it allows for some unique plays. Like ulting an oper off an angle and then the rest of your team can push up.

posted about a year ago

Eh, im not sure.

I don't think he is good enough to be a solo duelist but he could work as a second duelist.
Some of his abilities work decently well to create space for another player.

Very interesting.
I feel like it suffers from a lot of the problems that reyna has though, the power comes from getting a kill instead of creating a kill opportunity.

posted about a year ago

Yeah it is pretty good for us.
JDG VS BLG is the most impactful draw, that opens up the possibility for a team to sneak in a 3-0 spot.
If g2 win and then draw C9/LNG it's possible.

Avoiding having multiple teams in 0-2 pool will be good. (Unless fnc lose)

1-1 stage will be interesting.
There will be a lot of big dogs in that pool mixed in with some very weak teams.

This is ridiculous

JDG VS BLG
T1 VS GENG?
dk vs kt

Hitboxes and the micheal jackson peak has been fixed.

Still not a fan of how stubborn they are with the jumpthrow and tick rates.
Subtick isn't bad but it's not as good as 128 tick.
128 sub tick might be really good if they actually try it.

posted about a year ago

Jady+vakk were standins for this game.
Hopefully both of them will find a good team for next year.

posted about a year ago

Nah g2 beating Dplus was kinda expected, this dplus is not the same team as the one that won worlds.
G2 did almost throw though.

Riot has screwed over OCE multiple times in LoL and Val it is absurd.

posted about a year ago

A lot what she is saying is not riot "discriminating against brazil" its more of riot failing to accommodate everyone as a whole.
The point about franchising as an example, if riot wanted to kill brazil they could've easily only given Brazil 2 slots.
Also the effect on T2 due to franchised has been felt globally.

If the CBLOL want's to be taken more seriously then they need to actually perform at international events.

posted about a year ago

Astralis did have a few decent splits, spring/fall 2023 were solid.
Though overall they were pretty dismal, the org isn't that popular in LoL either.

Interesting to know is that falcons were going to buy the Astralis slot but riot blocked the move.

posted about a year ago

Pretty huge news.
https://lolesports.com/article/karmine-corp-acquires-astralis%E2%80%99-lec-slot/blt2caccbb12aeddfcc

It is kinda a transaction that suits all parties.
KC really wanted to get in to the LEC.
LEC gets a very popular org.
Astralis were looking to sell, will likely get a very good return on the slot.

Only issue is that KC's star bot laner will be ineligible to compete in 2024 due to the fact he is too young (u18)

Having 1 name change per year or paying $10 is pretty bad.

The esport is a bit up in the air at the moment, with OWL ending.
The Overwatch league had a lot of issues though, one of the big ones was the fact it had alienated a lot of regions.

The Overwatch World Cup is good though, that starts at the end of the month.
(though South Korea will win)
