Iso's kit was always going to be more favourable in ranked.
That type of kit will never be meta in pro play, it just lacks utility or movement.

I do think he now has the chance to be a surprise pick but will never see consistent pick rates.
Call me delusional but I reckon he could be semi-viable on lotus, focusing around re/taking mound and rubble control.

Holy shit what a big win for The Kobolds.
Mongolian take over of hk/tw has commenced.

Its a unique middle ground.
On the positive side there will be a CBLOL team guaranteed at msi and worlds, hopefully the Southern conferences stays in brazil.
Although the reduction in the league size will hurt (10 -> 6), not sure if all the orgs will want to invest in t2.
Will be very interesting to see who they pick for the "partnership" slots, especially the LLA ones.

I don't think this solves the issues with the LCS though.

https://lolesports.com/article/lol-esports-building-towards-a-brighter-future/bltc9412d7575d4625d

Interesting changes proposed for the future of League Of Legends, with a series of changes to the format and the league structures.
Including the creation of an APAC league which will unite the LJL (japan) , VCS (vietnam) , LCO (oce) , PCS (hk/tw) and SEA.

What is the most interesting for me is the proposed Americas league: Which will combine the lcs (na) , cblol (brazil) , LLA (LATAM)

  • North and south conferences
  • Each conference would maintain six of its existing partnered teams (cblol for south, lcs for north), integrate one team from the LLA based on geographical alignment, and reserve one “Guest team” spot for promotion and relegation through the Tier 2 system, for a total of eight teams per conference.

Here’s how the Americas splits would work:

Split 1 - Teams would first compete within their respective conferences, with top performers qualifying for cross-conference play where a single team will qualify for the new global tournament.
Split 2 - For MSI, the top team from each conference would secure one slot, a total of two Americas teams;
Split 3 - An Americas Regional Championship would determine three teams advancing to Worlds, with at least one team from each conference.

Could we see this americas system adopted into the vct?
It could be beneficial in reducing some of the issues with Brazilian valorant.

It did feel like the 2023 korean rosters struggled with striking the balance between the old stars and the emerging talents.
GEN.G have found a good balance by also shuffling old jett superstars like meteor onto sentinel.

2025 could be another great year if like DRX/T1 could get a stew / yoman / h4te which haven't had their big opportunity on a top korean org yet.

It's been a long time coming.
The top korean teams have always been close but lacked that extra edge when it came to the critical games.
Slightly surprised that it was this group of koreans that broke the curse, considering the entire roster + coaches came from different teams, but surprises are fun so im not complaining.

GEN.G play some nice valorant, props to them.
I was slightly worried when they had a small dip after Madrid but they bounced back and broke the pacific curse.

GSL is not as fun as swiss imo.
20 games vs 33 games (if we are assuming it follows a 3W/3L system), which logistically could be an issue.
Also gsl is probably more likely to allow for every region to have atleast 1 team in the playoffs, seeding creates a bigger advantage in gsl.

Actually aspas averaged above 0.2 fkpr at both tokyo and shanghai, but then again that does coincide with an early exit.

posted about a year ago

I still had high hopes for the team after kick//off, really felt like they were dealt a bad hand.

I am slightly worried for them now with their map pool.

  • They are amazing at 2 maps: bind and breeze.
  • Good on 3 maps: split, ascent and icebox.
  • "Bad" on 2 maps: lotus and sunset.

Americas starts in 2 weeks, which should/could be on the new patch 8.11 which would mean breeze + split are removed. (pacific starts in 8 days...)

However, they will play furia + mibr so they might be okay.

Zikz chose the matchup he thought his team had the best chance at winning?
100t then went on to beat the "tournament favourites"

I wouldn't say it was a bad tournament for 100t.

Interesting.
I agree with some of the points although I disagree with quite a few aswell.

The koi take is very interesting, who would you want koi to pick up as a HC to try and implement a more explosive style?

Give a slot to south africa. fuck it

Sucks to see EDG under performing this hard though, especially since the event is in Shanghai.
But at the same time the likes of Brazil would not be as good without riot giving them a good amount of slots early on.
Giving china more opportunities will help them improve quicker.

posted about a year ago

Not possible.

PRX is guaranteed to play one of 100t/GENG in the lower bracket quarterfinal.
So only 2 of the 3 can be top 4.

777 days later and valyn-trent-jonahp have beaten prx after they were defeated in Iceland.

Happy to see this core break through and beat an elite team like prx.
Leaf aswell is an incredible player that has lacked a deep international run.
Its nice to see them both come together to achieve the same goal.

Also icy keeps frying, so nice to see because his raze mehanics are clean

China dominating league is such a funny myth.
They have never won worlds without having 2 korean imports.
Korean teams/orgs still win the vast majority of events.

Chinese LoL is very good but its far from dominating.

posted about a year ago

However they are your stereotypical chinese team.

Aimwise, up to par with the competition.
However they lack discipline which causes them to lose man advantage positions.

It feels like G2 plays to the level of their opponent at times.
Nice to see ICY performing well today though, he has been getting unnecessary stick despite being a rookie.

posted about a year ago

The issue with public perception of leaf is that he lacked the international exposure, especially in 2022/23.
There were definitely moments where he was highly though of by the community, its just the fact he failed to qualify for any major events.

I distinctly remember when C9 were performing well in Stage 2023, Leaf was being hyped as debatably the most important player in the Americas.

Yep G2 are way more complete right now.
G2's perma ban being heretics best map hurts a lot.

Besides Valyn is just calling a masterclass right now.

On reflection miniboo is so crucial, with how he operates for the team and how good he is at the niche duelists which heretics lean into. (yoru/neon).

posted about a year ago

I can see a world where FNS will be allowed to construct the team he wants for 2025.
He is just being brought in now to try and salvage the season as best as possible.

I struggle to see this optic core continue further especially after it temporarily disbanded, the mid-season market issues being the reason why the old-team is back.
Also with the comments FNS had in the off//season about wanting to build a roster himself.
