LOCK//IN is considered a major because it is one of the only three international events this year under the aegis of Riot. I know it had a... unique format and the prize pool was low but it featured all the partnered regions and thus, counts as a major. If you really have an issue with the word, just substitute international trophy if that helps you feel better about it!

I think APAC deserved two slots as well, like NA and EMEA, sucks to not see AECL playing. But the situation is what it is, hopefully, X10S do well so we get more recognition next year, so do support them!
