They won't ever do it purely based off of skill
Some regions may die out over the years, but Riot are generally good at giving regions a fair amount of slots

Everyone before Berlin was hyped to see KR play and now after every map loss, we get the same “KR is overrated” threads from ppl

Unpopular opinion: I'm actually more excited for Day 2 then Day 1 + it's a weekend so I can watch the games live

VS vs PRX - we can watch the legend Benkai play and see how good VS are
Gambit vs CR - I want to see if Gambit chokes on Lan like some people think + see if crazy racoon has improved
