pancada cannot be argued as the greatest controller of all time. maybe in 2022 but mako had another entire year of being the best while pancada was unfortunately on the sentinel role. and if karon performs at champs then even mako's title could be in contention.

i still think that if sen were only going to put tenz on omen keeping pancada and zellsis both (while removing tenz from roster) was the most logical choice from a winning perspective. obviously though, that wasn't going to happen and it turned out pretty well for sen too
7-10 rankings are honestly versatile, just my perception of the teams they've played against and how they performed according to that metric
I think tenz is good but more in the tier of players like invy, leaf, derke, kingg who are just a bit below this list

your first point, SEN received an especially big blowback because they didn't even qualify for playoffs of their own region. i'd say more criticism should've been expected. your second point, of course teams are going to steal ideas and comps from good teams on specific maps, whether or not they win. what I mean is that you failed to associate specifically winning the first lan of the year with strat/comp stealing. third point is fair but overexaggerated, all teams have to deal with this at some point.
The simple fact is that Sentinels were just bad in stage 1. I have full faith they'll come back, but these excuses are shit.

they aren't bad. i think that the dip in EDG's performance is overexaggerated, it's just that the other Chinese teams are catching up.
the reason I say this is because EDG was the 6th best team in the world at their very best, which was at the tail end of 2023.
people like to pretend that they were ever in contention for winning a tournament, but they weren't.
EDG is looking to change so that they can break the status quo, and I think that in order to do that there need to be big changes, and during those big changes dips in performances are inevitable.
