I meant if the school supports them of some sort

I feel disrespected when people call me smurfing in immo. I mean I’m not a bum and actually have a life outside Valorant.

Or nah? Like are they actually backed by the school getting scholarship or something?

They went franchise system and went back because of feedback though no? I mean if we’re comparing tier2 support, CS is miles ahead of Valorant right now.

Imagine if Valorant is developed by Valve instead of Riot

NA Tier 2 has some of the hungriest players I’ve ever seen. Just look at G2 (ex-Guard) and the other T2 players right now — they’re on fire. I really hope they stay hungry, even if Riot isn’t giving them much support.

Imagine Furia picking up the Lebron James of T2 next year. Or like GE picking up a primmie-like APAC player. Narratives would be insane too.

The current VCT structure is inadvertently stifling the growth and sustainability of Tier 2 Valorant. Despite Riot's efforts, the Tier 2 scene faces significant challenges:

  • Lack of Financial Support: Tier 2 teams often operate without adequate funding, making it difficult to sustain operations and support players.

  • Player Poaching: Talented players are frequently recruited by Tier 1 teams, leaving Tier 2 teams in a constant state of rebuilding.

  • Short-Term Promotions: Even when Tier 2 teams achieve success, such as winning Ascension tournaments, their promotion to Tier 1 is temporary. Starting in 2025, promoted teams will have a one-year term in the International League, with extensions based on performance criteria .
These factors contribute to an unstable environment where Tier 2 teams struggle to survive, let alone thrive.

Proposed Solution: Implement an NBA-Style Draft System

To address these issues, I propose adopting a draft system similar to the NBA's, where Tier 1 teams would select new talent through a structured draft process. This approach could offer several benefits:

  • Stability for Tier 2 Teams: By regulating player movement, Tier 2 teams can retain their talent longer, allowing for team development and fanbase growth.

  • Fair Talent Distribution: A draft system ensures that all Tier 1 teams have equitable access to emerging talent, promoting competitive balance.

  • Enhanced Player Development: Structured progression paths can provide players with clear goals and support systems as they advance to higher levels of competition.

Just my opinion but the current system places immense pressure on Tier 2 teams and players, often leading to unsustainable practices. Implementing a draft system could provide the necessary structure and support to nurture talent and maintain a healthy competitive ecosystem.

What are your thoughts on this? Could a draft system be the key to revitalizing Tier 2?
