Imagine Furia picking up the Lebron James of T2 next year. Or like GE picking up a primmie-like APAC player. Narratives would be insane too.
The current VCT structure is inadvertently stifling the growth and sustainability of Tier 2 Valorant. Despite Riot's efforts, the Tier 2 scene faces significant challenges:
Lack of Financial Support: Tier 2 teams often operate without adequate funding, making it difficult to sustain operations and support players.
Player Poaching: Talented players are frequently recruited by Tier 1 teams, leaving Tier 2 teams in a constant state of rebuilding.
Short-Term Promotions: Even when Tier 2 teams achieve success, such as winning Ascension tournaments, their promotion to Tier 1 is temporary. Starting in 2025, promoted teams will have a one-year term in the International League, with extensions based on performance criteria .
These factors contribute to an unstable environment where Tier 2 teams struggle to survive, let alone thrive.
Proposed Solution: Implement an NBA-Style Draft System
To address these issues, I propose adopting a draft system similar to the NBA's, where Tier 1 teams would select new talent through a structured draft process. This approach could offer several benefits:
Stability for Tier 2 Teams: By regulating player movement, Tier 2 teams can retain their talent longer, allowing for team development and fanbase growth.
Fair Talent Distribution: A draft system ensures that all Tier 1 teams have equitable access to emerging talent, promoting competitive balance.
Enhanced Player Development: Structured progression paths can provide players with clear goals and support systems as they advance to higher levels of competition.
Just my opinion but the current system places immense pressure on Tier 2 teams and players, often leading to unsustainable practices. Implementing a draft system could provide the necessary structure and support to nurture talent and maintain a healthy competitive ecosystem.
What are your thoughts on this? Could a draft system be the key to revitalizing Tier 2?
Sucks to lose my car to this match 😭
Oh fuuuu I’m gonna cuuuu
Took me awhile to find the stream but this is insane!!
They literally can’t aim this series.
TH haven’t lost like this in a looooong while no?
Watching Fnatic take Map 1 of the Upper Finals with a dominant 13-6 win over Heretics, and it's hard not to see this as a clear outcoaching display.
Despite Heretics coming into the match as slight favorites—off the back of multiple international appearances last year—they looked completely unprepped for Fnatic’s pace, reads, and coordination which is insane considering their recent run.
Key points:
Kaajak (20/12/2, 1.55 R2) and Alfajer (20/15/2, 1.38 R2) were monstrous, punishing Heretics' entries and anchoring like a brick wall.
Chronicle played a smart, supportive role (16/9/13), enabling the rest of Fnatic while keeping deaths low.
Meanwhile, Heretics' players like Wo0t (8/15/2, 0.47 R2) and benjyfishy (11/17/3, 0.58 R2) looked completely lost—lacking impact and constantly getting shut down.
Heretics’ utility usage felt reactionary, and their default setups gave too much room for Fnatic to take early space and capitalize.
It really felt like Boaster and the Fnatic coaching staff had read Heretics like a book. Every rotate, flank, and setup from Heretics was sniffed out and punished.
For a team with this level of international exposure, Heretics should not be getting outclassed like this. They need to adjust fast or this series might spiral out of control.
Thoughts? Was this a case of better prep from Fnatic, or is Heretics struggling with adapting mid-round?
That map 1 was the greatest outcoaching I’ve ever seen in my life.
He’s got the best rizz of 2023 in and out of game bud
Insane copium
Manager knows what she’s doing, calm down.
If PRX wins, does mindfreak come back in place of patmen moving forward?
Zombie Escape/ Mode (Like in CS)
Kudos to GE actually. They just want to win.
Watching his games it’s not the aim that stands out, but the IQ. The duels he chooses is just insane and pure art.
Why are they picking up players kicked out of some orgs?
I don’t buy skins that often bro. I spend most of my money on gym and cars
Sick with the dragon vandal
What about HongKong or Manila? I went there last year and 2 weeks didn’t even cost half a month’s salary
What do I do to destress on my free time then?
I still play computer games and I don’t have enough financial buffer. Not sure if I can rn. Gf wants the baby (she says I’m the provider and doesn’t plan on working since she says she has to take care of baby from then on)
Nah. Time to change coach for the 27th time. And let’s extend Jessie and Jremy’s contract to 2036. Should be a guaranteed playoffs team by 2040.
After the cars, I have like less than 10k in my bank account tbh. No insurance whatsoever too.
