imo you do, if you really want to reach an audience you make it as easy as possible for them to access it. This tournament isn't really meant to be competitive to the degree of AFTV (you don't have full tier 1 teams with weeks of practice), but for viewership instead. Plus you have to consider timezones. How many people are gonna stay up for a stream not in their language. I think it really would be better to wait and do it properly, I'm probably being ambitious but if by year 2 of a LxT WC if we can get a LAN in Europe that would be the time to do it

posted about a year ago

The way BLD just got fully crossed out 😭😭

posted about a year ago

I thought ab it but CN is a bit out there without having a benchmark of how an event like this will do. CN streaming rights and getting the CN players is gonna be a lot harder than the others, plus being able set up a whole separate stream in CN with CN casters is gonna add to the cost. I would defo want to see it eventually but I think for the 1st event play it safe, invite 8 big countries with relatively low setup cost

idk I have like 2 followers which aren't bots and I have no clue how to use reddit. If you're familiar you're completely welcome to spread the suggestion

posted about a year ago

imo they should just invite 8 teams from the biggest countries for the first year to see if it works, qualifiers might be expensive and time consuming so I think it'd only be worth their time if year 1 of a WC format goes well

posted about a year ago

I think (Correct me if I'm wrong) JohnQT lives in Canada so he'd play for them

posted about a year ago

It heavily depends, absolutely no disrespect to Latvia or PH but for an 8 team world cup tournament I don't think they'd get their countries in. But lets say hypothetically a PH team was in, I'd give zekken the choice on which team he'd want to represent, just like the football WC.

But to answer your question, yes Zekken would hypothetically be team USA

posted about a year ago

by that do you mean 2025? since LxT 3 just ended.
Near the end of the stream he made the suggestion, and I thought it was a good idea so I made a post about it

posted about a year ago

This roster is good tbh, but to maximise viewership I'd go with:

Boaster, Benjyfishy, Keiko, Soulcas, Ardiis

(Ardiis uses the Latvian flag but he's lived in the UK for most of his life, and well... you can tell he's a scouser by listening to him speak lol)

posted about a year ago

imo that's completely fine. Imagine a double elim bracket, that's at least 2 games I get to watch my country play.
imo there's no shame in it being less competitive, trust me country vs country makes every game entertaining if you're from one of the countries

posted about a year ago

The thing is, it's an off season event, so imo it's completely fine if the rosters aren't minmaxed. I'll root for my team even if it's bad (I'm more than certain I'm not the only one who'd do the same). Also It's not the most nice thing to admit but a ton of people will hatewatch, and as the saying goes 'any publicity is good publicity' (in this context publicity = viewership)

posted about a year ago

nah I would want countries not regions/subregions. ik spike nations is a thing but LxT has way more reach. for 8 teams lets have:

USA
Canada
UK
France
Brazil
Japan
Korea
Turkey
(it doesn't have to be these countries, I've just put them as an example)
imagine how hard that tournament would go

posted about a year ago

Ludwig suggested doing a world cup near the end of the LxT 3 stream, and I personally think it'd be a great idea.
This year had an amazing format but I'd fw a world cup heavy. Even if they do this years format again it'll be great, best off season event in this game so far imo.

here's a few suggestions for countries (these are hypothetical, it doesn't have to be them)

USA
Canada
Brazil
UK
France
Turkey
Japan
Korea

That'll be 3 AMER, 3 EMEA and 2 APAC for example (APAC sort of gets the short end of the stick, but I think it'd have to be that way because of the timezones). I think inviting 8 teams from the biggest countries would be a good place to start, just to see if the idea sticks. 8 Is a nice number for a double elim bracket too so each country gets a minimum of two matches

The main issue with this is that certain regions can shrink over time, even to the point of non existence. You can argue that it might just be a 'skill issue' but the reality is if VCT wants to succeed it needs to draw in viewership from across the globe, and making it so regions that aren't as competitive don't have a chance to develop in tier 1 really limits that.
Plus that's not even part of the financial argument, what makes VCT tier 1 so attractive is that it's one of the few esports leagues which may actually be able to turn a profit, and the only way to do that is through long term stability. I agree that tier 2 doesn't make sense right now but relegation would make tier 1 not make sense in the way it's been envisioned. It took football 100's of years to add relegation. I don't think it'll be a wise move until maybe like 10 years down the line or so before relegation can be seen as a viable option for VCT, it's simply too small for now

posted about a year ago

imo better to have the org which doesn't field your players than nothing, as over many years they'll at least contribute something. But that's also why I suggested that Riot put a mandate to have a minimum of 2 players from each sub region on the team

posted about a year ago

I don't think we'll get a change soon either (At least by 2027 or 2028 minimum), but change is possible. For all the hate Leo Faria gets you can't argue he isn't receptive to the community, when the off season was too long, he shortened it, when tier 2 didn't have games year round, he fixed it. So I'm hoping this is an issue they can be receptive on.

As for tier 2 it also needs to change, the current system with orgs basically having nothing to gain but a promise of 1 year of tier 1 (in which there's a chance riot decline their org anyways) is far, far too little of an incentive. I like your idea of having a region wide tournament and I believe there are already plans to do one in EMEA, so judging off of how that goes I think it might be something that can be implemented globally

posted about a year ago

allat warning
This is mainly for EMEA and APAC, but I think there is a vast underrepresentation of some countries/talents in these regions. This is the current partner structure:

EMEA:
2x Turkey - BBL, FUT
3x Spain - KOI, TH, GX
2x France - KC, VIT
2x UK - FNC, TL
1x East - NAVI

This leaves out notable regions such as DACH, Scandinavia, MENA and CIS
Leads to underrepresentation of: East

APAC:
3x KR - GENG, T1, DRX
2x JP - DFM, ZETA
1x SA - GE
1x MY/SG - PRX
1x Indo - RRQ
1x PH - TS
1x TH - TLN

This leaves out: Vietnam, OCE
This leads to underrepresentation of: Indo, MY/SG, TH and PH

I don't know enough about CN to comment on them, but for AMER a slot or two could definitely help the central American region. imo there's nothing fundamentally wrong with having imbalanced leagues i.e. 12 AMER/16 EMEA/16 APAC/ 10 CN (partnered), so long as only 2/3/4 teams qualify for Masters/Champs respectively. I think the main issue we already have is that orgs can be from wherever, but they don't have to necessarily harbour players from their region, this is a completely separate debate but imo teams should have a minimum of 2 players from their sub region (yes, ik this part is a hot take), I think this alongside adding more slots this would really help VCT reach more localised audiences.

idk I really like what they've done this year, it's too early to have full rosters atp either because they're not finalised or because the players are still on break. Not to mention how entertaining it is to see player combos that we would never see otherwise cuz of the draft system
