From what I read, ascension teams do not play in the same league as partnered teams. The reward of winning Ascension is getting into the next 2 years of the partnered VCT league, meaning the winners of 2023 Ascension compete in the big league during 2024-2025.

would be useful if you guys included a link for the co-streams list as well. Like a link to the twitter announcement is works well. You definitely don't have to list/link them individually.

Was there really no way to condense the first ro32/16 to make just the top 8 teams double elim? This tournament is gonna feel so flukey

posted about a year ago

They're on different days. Otherwise, yesterday would've been insanely long. and if the uppers were today, the losers would have to play 3 matches in 1 day (upper finals, lower finals, grand finals)

posted about a year ago

yeah, so far, Pacific League has 2 teams to be hype about and dassit

Same with Saya. Goated (at least on Jett)

top 32 is double elim in this open qualifier (open #1), but it's still the 1st open qualifier. Before top 32, it was single elimination. There is still 2 open qualifiers, but they're BOTH this month. This open qualifier is #1, and the challengers LCQ is open #2. The problem is that the LCQ is only a few days away after this open qualifier (open #1) ends with the top 4 winners getting to go to the challengers league. Then top 2 from challengers LCQ (open #2) get to go to the league and that's all the 12 teams (with 6 already invited) that will be in the challengers league for the entire year that ultimately leads to the ascension tournament. It's pretty brutal and getting upset is really unfortunate

Announcement video at the end of the Riot Games One tournament that just ended

Yeah.. I think they should've just done 6 BO3's over 2 days if they wanted to keep this format. A 6 hour tournament is not competitively interesting in the least

Feels good to see this team succeed again as a day 1 fan 😅. Hopefully 100T continues uptrending & achieves great things in 2023 cuz there's still a lot to fix so they haven't even hit their ceiling yet

posted about a year ago

what do you mean by overall performance? What is that metric quantitatively?

posted about a year ago

yeah, it has to be stats between the tied teams. Overall performance is way too vague to even mean anything

posted about a year ago

Did red bull organizers somebow forget the order of tiebreakers? head-to-head results from ties takes priority over round diff (which is close to dead last in priority)

Lol yeah he prolly didn't need to make a 3 part thread. Sucks for the friend but just go do your best. I'm sure the event will go well and homie will recover well from covid hopefully 🙏🏿

I'm surprised about this too actually. Thought she was only going up from there on that team

We shouldn't expect people to not have emotions, especially when it's proportional to the amount of shit galk his players received in-game. He definitely shouldn't be blamed because he didn't start it and it was just a half second finger lol. if for optics, they wanted to punish him, it should be just a fine and nothing more, like the rulebooks say and what Boaster got. Riot was out of line, the line they created 🥴

Is this event a LAN or online? it doesn't say anywhere but the tournament has a location

posted about a year ago

I see people saying this, but where is this info from? that Riot told them to do better?

anyone have a screenshot of the post? It's been deleted.

Wow.... That's a scary ass roster, wth.. Americas League looking nice as hell!

Oh, this was a fun read. Nice work

More likely, Asuna can just play Raze when they need it and flex the other times when he's not on Raze. Cryo's primary role will be as their opper, not necessarily their duelist although he may do that as Jett.

posted about a year ago

Excellent. Still need a 6th though, so very excited for this team

Deserved lol

Wait, so did C9 have 4 coaches before this??

I still remember's b0i's ace yep

I'm really curious to see if SMB will eventually make a comeback. They were so hyped up and just petered out in the big qualifications.

posted about a year ago

No way the academy team agrees to throw when they have more to prove lol. Also, the scandal would reverberate across all esports if it ever got out

Same!!!!!! I was trying to do the math and make it make sense, went back to the match results page and was STILL confused until I realized it was a typo.

Yeah, his fortnite casting wasn't fondly memorable either.. He's got a great understanding of games that's great for the informative portion of casting, but his delivery (or lack thereof when he's quiet) just doesn't seem to give enough for the entertainment aspect of shoutcasting

posted about a year ago

He's a great analyst no doubt (and also apparently really good at the game). But his casting can be some of the weakest at times, especially when there's a hype moment, and all you hear Doug for like 5-10 seconds. Sometimes I wonder if his mic cut off or something then he chimes in with very little to add to the hype

This is kinda cool. We have Loud who rolls their respective region. PRX same. now EDG rolled LCQ. And now we have FNC, FPX, and OPTIC who are also all supposed to be powerhouses, along with TL [individually at least] or M3C later today. Champions is freaking STACKED internationally!!!!!!!

I have no personal favorites unless 100T makes it through LCQ, so I'm just excited to see what happens between Asia, EMEA, and NA/SA

I was more active earlier in the year, but this should be interesting lol

across 3 maps? that's pretttty exceptional, ngl

No way you typed G2 with a straight face lol. They look so mid right now

posted about a year ago

At the end of the day, he still doesn't have the necessary impact on Chamber. It's unfortunate, but I think it's just not his agent or he needs a LOT more practice compared to his Jett/Raze

posted about a year ago

37% KAST????? that's abysmal. My god, that's basically a 5v4... I hate to add to the flack he's getting, but he's always had his work cut out for him and he's not measuring up unfortunately..

posted about a year ago

Among the top 3 this tournament for sure. Maybe even top 2

lmfao

You all are either projecting your own insecurities or are selectively listening to the casts. Talking up the favorites is a common caster job and hyping up underdogs who perform well is another. The desk and casters do both consistently, especially with Lev since they've been so good

posted about a year ago

Shitting on them??? Damn, since when did things get so serious

posted about a year ago

Obviously the crowd makes the biggest difference. It's also a legacy esport at this point.

posted about a year ago

final weekend will have crowds during 3 days that will decide the top 4 teams next week.

posted about a year ago

No it's top 4. Which is last 3 days

posted about a year ago

This would make sense if the eventual winners hadn't had successful runs in their respective regions/tournaments. Every team that has won has looked near or straight up the best in the respective regions (NA or EMEA) either by peak performance or consistency. At the international stage, different styles and metas will clash and WILL lead to upsets, especially if teams haven't played each other and fail to adapt soon enough to salvage a map. Good fundamentals will get you 7-10 rounds by itself. The rest will be up to your pop off players, site execs or unique strats. And the fact that these matches are close make it apparent that the apparent skill gap that fans think exist at the international level is but a thin veil. And even then, it's always been NA or EMEA winning.
