And look now, GE won the stage and Fr0st bombed out.
It sucks to be Purp0 ngl, he was in his best form as an initiator and had become one of my favorite initiators but sadly on the jett he was super hit or miss and I feel the duelist flexibility wasn't there (not sure if its a Purp0 thing or the coaches)
I'll let the time settle in because on Paper this is potentially an upgrade but we'll have to wait.

i feel like they could've swapped kamo and purpo's roles and if they were gonna remove someone i would be kicks but that's just my opinion
everyone on the team has mentioned how positive kicks is to the team in terms of mental and util
purp0's agent pool is the main problem with trexx on the team, and he's fragging nowhere near enough to justify him being a perma jett
I think purpo had to be doing bad in scrims for them to make this move right now. It's hard to have an opinion about these moves because we have basically 0 info.
It really does suck for purp0 because he wasn't even expected to be playing duelist this year but miniboo leaving changed things and unfortunately he lacks the agent pool flexibility on duelist.
They created roster wayne miniboo purp0 with kamo going for initiators in mind. Kamo actually was fragging out on initiators, but the miniboo-purp0 duelist duo didnt work out, then they decided to implement NS style double duelist all in with kamo-miniboo.
Purp0 looked good on initiator, but he is nowhere near as good as trexx is. They shouldve forced Purp0 to train neon at the start of the year, but considering they had miniboo, they were expecting him to fill that spot, then miniboo just left.
They also probably wanted to play something like purp0 jett/phoenix and miniboo raze/neon, with kamo learning smokes and replacing wayne.
this move will be judged in hindsight and only then. if gsr does well, it's a ''genius bold move which helped a young talent show himself''. if he does poorly, liquid will be seen as a ''scummy way to kick your previous player, a desperate gamble, a mistake''. GE/fr0st situation had a clear winner/loser only in the end of stage 2, same here

But hoping for a much more competent and hungry Liquid
GE dropped fr0st after bombing out of london. Liquid dropped purp0 after qualifying for champs. What is similar about these moves exactly?
It was more on the lines of Fr0st gave GE their first international and ended up getting dropped and here Purp0 is a major name too, although not that big.
But getting dropped after qualifying to champs after having missed the previous masters raises that brow.
Back then, people clowned GE and the org owner heavily for that move.
And now Liquid are being clowned too for this move
That's the similarity.
Even if liquid would have kept purpo, they would have won the first game with their comp and set strats but would have been antied hard in the second and third game.
They want to get gsr so that they could play the "standard" comps and they comp with their own set strats in that. But I still feel liquid will struggle to get out of groups since they play teams with good synergy in their games, even if they are out of form (g2 , prx) ,, even if they manage to get out they might need god level aim from either gsr or kamo to go further down.
Overall, its a gamble and i feel its worth the risk
