Do six-man rosters work?

I just saw Shopify Rebellion's announcement and I wondered, why don't 6-man rosters ever work out? Whether it's in t2-t3 teams like shopify or C9W (diff situation ik) but even higher up it just doesn't seem to work. The only successful 6+ man teams I can think of are CR and DRX VS...

Maybe I'm just ignorant and this releasing is unrelated but what do you think about 6 man rosters?

i think it doesnt work in valorant because the roles in the game, at least at this moment, aren't rigid enough to the point that players can't just flex on to a role that they don't usually play but is needed in the comp. because most players are just able to flex onto an off role, then it would just halt the chemistry of the team to have multiple subs. i think it was popular in asia because in overwatch, because the roles are so rigid compared to valorant, big rosters were very common. and that mindset probably carried over to the Korean coaches and players who transitioned to valorant who went on to coach not only in Korea but in japan as well.

Well first off, if you switch player in the middle of series, you are just fuckign up that new player. Like everyone the server is warmed up while he enters in cold. This is what happened to VS king in champions. Dude got so much blame for playing bad even though it wasn’t his fault. Second, 6 man can work, but it really depends on the team. I feel like most teams have 6 mans roster when you don’t need them. IMO, the only time you should have 6 man roster is when a team is not very flexible. If some players just can’t seem to play this other agent but are really good at something else, you might get another player to add more flexibility to the team. Also a lot of times the 6th man is usually added as another mind to the team.

the only team that ever made it work in val was the old heretics roster and we know how that ended

6 man rosters could work if the 6th player subs in for the flex player considering that the flex player has to master multiple agents.

Yeah but it also creates a rough environment sometimes and can turn people away if they don't see their fav playing but idk

It is a trade-off with 6+ man rosters. You get less chemistry within the team and an atmosphere of you are competing with your team mates to stay on the roster, but the positive is you get someone who got mastery of an agent. I don't think 6 man rosters will work until there are more agents in the game (like 30+) and agent selection gets more strategical like counter-picks or maybe agent bans.

Only reason at the moment a team should sign a 6th player is for substitute but then again most teams use their coach for that (assuming coach is at least Immortal).

Yeah but even as a substitute it sucks because how often will a sub play? Very rarely, and even then it would probably just be a T2-3 Tourney. It's kind of a waste of talent imo

i think that 6 man rosters don't work cause you leave one person still too much out of the competing/getting experience and so how are they supposed to get better/improve if they have to share that right. especially with some other people who are talking about chemistry with the team ^^.
