Can someone in the know of APAC explain to me?

Hey!

I was doing a check in on every region looking for potential next great player, to learn about the potential storyline for Play-in in VCT Stage 2, and I happened to look at the player "Anq".

I was really surprised to see such insanely good stat consistantly, even in losses, on a role that isn't even supposed to be buffed by vlr rating system, so I decided to watch some vods about him.

Now, my question is the following: Why did he not go into Tier 1 at all yet? Is there logistical reason? Is there something I missed that doesn't make him a Tier 1 talent? Was he just wrong place wrong time during the possibilities? Does he not want to be Tier 1? Or is it about something else?

That's why I looked at the gameplay because I knew that was a factor ; I just think in his gameplay his aim is still incredible and his util, while not perfect, is on par with a lot of other profile that people say are "obiously the next big thing"

I wouldn't find an Ascendant to be very good in a Gold lobby ; but I do find him really good against, I agree, the worst Tier 2 region.

I just found curious that he visibly got 0 chance at it - when there's historically worse Tier 1 profile from similar situation that did.

I'm not advocating to say he will be the next Top 10 player, I just thought he was among the player that probably could have gotten there, and wondered if there was a direct reason he didn't

The stat aren't the reason I thought he was good. An Ascendant may farm a Gold player, I'll still find the mistake in the gameplay ; the overextend because they're too confident, the lack of plan, the miss aim that doesn't get punished and many many more.

The reason I think Anq is good is not just because he's stating a lot, stats are just the reason I took a look in the first place

Anyway, I got my answer in that thread anyway, so I'll let it rot now

S8UL gives good money since it's one of India's biggest e-sports organizations, even better than Tier 1 could pay.
I guess that's why he isn't leaving

Yeah he said once he joined S8UL he didnt care to check the messages from EMEA teams offering him lol... And tbh he is so happy here, his social media impressions are so high now.... Which he would have never got in any other region.... Although bro you need to calm down there because S8UL definitely doesnt pay more than T1 team XD... maybe more than any T2 team? yes.

there are plenty of players of his caliber or more who have lower stats (like 1.05) but are EXCEPTIONALLY good with the eye test; Anq is good but he does play in the 2nd weakest vcl;

You could look at the thai teams in SEA for a storyline ( esp. 555, an orgless 5 man roster playing for the love of the game and placed #3 in sea), also loads of super players esp rookies and controllers in t2

I did see them already!

But I'm also way more aware of the SEA storylines in general, so that helped me.

It's just that Anq is in a region that I know nothing about except the fact that this is one of the worst Tier 2 region, so I wanted to learn from people who knew better ahah

Like SA top 2 arent that bad usually but they have the weakest mid table and low teams out of any vcl for sure, vlt was decent and was good in groups for asc
Also Flyquest in americas is pretty fun to watch, with their wack clove comps and since they only emerged this year there's a certain element of surprise with them, ONG is fun but xiesta is only 16 so idk if he plays play in, he's crazy (same for kozzy in EP)
my personal fav is GSR from tla, the team is insane too but wont make play ins despite #2 seed (Acad), but GSR turns 18 just in time for play ins and i have a feeling might sub in for kozzy in EP
i dont watch any latam but lyon is unstoppable;

Broo i have been seeing him since 2024.... And people who are telling you that he is farming bums is not entirely true... He even farmed dos9 when he was in India.... This ANQ guy is actually the real deal... Sure every good import farms our region but never at the level of ANQ... This year he is in a very strong team so and his current org will most likely get partnership next year.. So you will see him in the big leagues soon. And if S8UL doesnt get there he will most likely go to china as the current XLG coach Hyova is one of his friend and he rates ANQ very highly.
