The game is still fair. Every great team should be able to win on any map. If a team is unable to overcome that then they are just not good enough. It’s valorant, anything can happen

imagine Team A is good on maps 1, 2, 3 and Team B is good on maps 5, 6, 7
both teams are equal ish on map 4

they play a bo3 upper final and Team A wins their map pick, Team B wins their map pick, and Team A barely wins the third map (which was map 4) in OT.

now in the final, Team A (just cuz they barely won that OT map), gets to ban 2 of Team B's good maps, so Team B has to play on maps 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 (1 which favors Team B, 1 which they are equal on, and 3 which favor Team A). Shit's just impossible for Team B lmao

they should make the Upper Final a bo5

Upper final can still be a bo5, but double map ban in the final should be the reward of winning that

point of double elim is to give teams a second chance. if they have that second chance, they shouldn't be rewarded over teams that didnt lose

and i disagree on the second part, once again i would argue the double ban isnt OP enough

it's not about winning fairly or not though. just like in sports where if someone fouls a player in basketball, even if they want to keep it fair, they still get 2 free throw shots

its just giving an advantage when they deserve it (same can be said with soccer penalties, giving teams that win the VAL skirmish map choice, etc)
