Hot Take on Ethan Cheating

You guys have never played a sport hard enough to want to win an insane amount if you think that Ethan doing stuff like jumping around the map in a tech pause and bending the rules (BUT NOT BREAKING THEM) is not good for the sport. If you sit there in a tech pause and have a "gentleman's agreement" to not do something IMO it just reads as you don't want to win enough. This is a tier 1 sports league where people and orgs have millions of dollars to spend on WINNING. If you aren't pushing the limits of the rules to win then you're not trying hard enough and doing the sport justice. Obviously, this doesn't mean hack or download cheats, but if you see a loophole in a rule that is written (the round where a tech pause happens plays out), then why aren't you trying to win. This is a match to get into the playoffs, a do or die match for London, and expecting the players to "be nice and kind and choose non-violence" when they both have their splits on the line is insanely delusional behavior IMO. Maybe I'm crazy for this take, but rules lawyering is something that I love to see in sports because it shows to me that a team really wants to win, and puts in the work to see how to win better than other teams.

TLDR: Cheating and breaking the rules is bad, but if a rule is badly made or written, and you bend it, it shows that you want to win more. Completely fine to exploit loopholes in the rules because this is a Tier 1 sports league.

Brother everyone stopped moving. Ethan asks the admins if it was a tech pause, and just because he got no response, he abused this fact as a way to run around the map and feint that he didn't get clarified that it was a tech pause. WE ALL KNOW bro knew it was a pause

There was clearly a pause. Just because the timer didn't officially stop doesn't mean there wasn't one. Did everyone just decided to stop moving cuz funny? I'm just saying ethan isn't innocent for abusing the rules and that you shouldn't say that the admin not telling him it was a tech pause justified his actions. It doesn't

are you a child? the admin didnt say there was a tech pause so there wasnt one. the only way for a tech pause to initialize is thru an admin declaring one.

like this is very simple and clear it cant be that hard to understand. anything else is u just arguing semantics and being mad at him not being 'gentleman-like'

bc the tech pause was in the process of being called, but not initialized yet. the admin must call the tech pause. if ethan decides not to honor the gentlemen agreement of going still (as his teaammates did) its his choice, not a rule-break

its not about knowing or not, even if he knew theres nothing that says he should stop moving. its his choice not to honor the gentlemen agreement which im sure he wouldve done if sen didn't do the same thing on their previous map

he absolutely knew what he was doing, if he thought the round was ongoing why not just kill everybody? he was pushing the rules and exploiting the fact that the timer hadn't stopped. it MIGHT be within the rules if you stretch them but its still shameless and horrible sportsmanship

6.2.3. Technical Pause Agent Control
During a technical pause, headsets have to stay on and players are prohibited from controlling their agent (i.e., players can not move or use utility during a Timeout).

even though everybody in the lobby knew it was a tech pause, exploiting the fact that somebody hasn't tapped him on the shoulder and explicitly told him is completely shameless. it's borderline cheating (and not a goalpost move i never argued that)

notice the rule you quoted said DURING, but a tech pause was never initialized by the admin. 'everybody in the lobby knew' isnt good enough. at worst you can argue unsportsmanlike, but that falls thru as well when u consider sen did the same thing as breeze

Tech pause can only be called by the admins and not players. Doesn't matter if the other team said there's a tech pause if the admin hasn't said it yet. Poor sportsmanship sure, but not cheating. Also imo it's more that the system is awful, why the fuck they can't just pause the game in 2026 is beyond me

Tldr someone pc crashed on map 3 of SEN X NRG yesterday everyone from Sen and NRG stop moving but Ethan started jumpin around until he got killed by Johnqt on C link. Basically some people think he was cheating by moving during the pause and trying to see Sen defense setup
