actually at the start of 2024 Keiko was playing better than Wayne is rn, but it took him a roleswap and a complete team + coaching staff rebuild for him to reach his 2025 level, which is definitely not going to happen to TL in 2026. Considering how they handled their roster in 2025 liquid are most likely replacing Wayne either by the end of Stage 1 or London* if he doesn't turn things around quickly. GSR won't be available before champs time so it's cooked for him
there aren’t enough good smoke player in the EMEA， most of the top smoke players（some even serving as igl ）are already locked down by a handful of teams. TL’s signing of Wayne is more of a move with no better options left.

I think Wayne is simply not suited to the competitive environment of EMEA. It’s just like Exa， he performed really well in Korea but struggled badly after moving to compete in the US.
I agree with your description of his problem to some extent; there's a fundamental conflict between the style he wants to play and would be more comfortable in and the one Liquid force him to play. However I don't think it's that much of a region thing; EMEA does have some talented controller players in T2 right now, but I think they are mostly players who wouldn't be particularly good if they were asked to play the spots and the way Wayne is asked to play right now, just like how Exa is still very good when he is put on viper on SRB (which is what he was the best at on T1A) but struggles a lot on senti, which is a role he has never been good at. And yes some of the more interesting prospects are indeed already signed to "big" orgs who would pbb not let them go easily
i think he just plays passive because tl already has three players who are naturally aggro
