I lowkey don't understand why people like reading this type of low-quality literature.

A main argument that people have is "the storyline is unmatched." that is only because thats the only shit (apart from anime) that they are exposed to. Mangas rarely get descriptive, everything is just stupid dialogue between stupidly drawn characters. You also have to wait like 2 weeks just for a chapter to come out. Read real literature works like novels, it helps improve your understanding of English. AND it can push your imagination.

in a different form of media?? I wouldn't even want to regard 'manga' as a real form of media, its essentially just cheap picture books produced by underpaid artists. They should expand their expertise ELSEWHERE instead of this.

ive read books, nothing crazy cultured, just cool fiction books
and ive read manga

i personally enjoyed both equally as much

though i prefer watching over reading tenfold

As long as you have a balance, I'm completely fine with that. I'm just pointing out that some people are completely trapped by their perception of manga and how "its superior to everything".

Manga is not bad; it’s something as enjoyable as reading a good novel, maybe slightly inferior. Manga doesn’t have to be as descriptive, because the artwork when done well can tell the reader everything they need. Fight scenes are just as good as, if not better than, those written in books. I think my opinion has some value, since I’ve read a lot of manga as well as book series like The Stormlight Archive, TBATE, Shadow Slave, and around 600 chapters of lotm

if improving one’s understanding of a language is the only bar to high quality literature then grammar textbooks are the highest quality literature available.

regardless of medium the story, themes, characters, ideas and how they are conveyed are what determines high quality literature

if manga being picture books offends you i wonder what your opinion is on movies and visual media - because as you said you don’t have to imagine anything with them.
