Playing against others makes me super nervous,
today i did not crumble though and managed to tie the scoreboard with my teacher
but its not just chess where i noticed this nervousness, i also feel it sometimes in comp, but that's beside the point

I want to ask a question, where do you think that nervousness lies?
Is it overthinking or something different all entirely?

Fresh off the boat, from reddit, kid? heh I remember when I was just like you. Braindead. Lemme give you a tip so you can make it in this cyber sanctuary: never make jokes like that. It's survival of the fittest and you ain't gonna survive long on VLR by saying stupid jokes that your little hugbox reddit friends would upvote. This ain't reddit, kid. This is VLR. We have REAL intellectual discussion, something I don't think you're all that familiar with.

I think the difference is that in 5v5 games some of the nerves of looking stupid or making a mistake are mitigated by the fact you have 4 other teammates alive, it's similar to doing a group presentation in school vs being solo, that's why I think clutches make you more nervous as well. as for why that happens I think it's just natural in competitive environments, whenever winning or losing is on your hands you tend to get nervous
