Brazilians genuinely believe they invented flight despite the Wright Brothers doing it three years earlier. Maybe this explains why they think Aspas is the goat, poor grip on reality?

wright bros achieved the first controlled flight. but santos dumont achieved the first publicly observed, autonomous takeoff flight 👍👍👍

wtf are you even saying? Like Independent discoveries exist, it isn't first come first serve. Like do you know how many examples in history there are of people inventing/discovering something but not getting proper credit. It's perfectly fine to say Alberto Santos-Dumont discovered flight because he did. HELL EVEN FUNNIER THE WRIGHT BROTHERS WERENT EVEN FIRST RICHARD PEARSE WAS
To list a few more examples:
- Pythagoras theorem was NOT discovered by Pythagoras
- Rosalind Franklin discovered the structure of DNA not Crick and Watson
- Thomas Edison is solely attributed with many works that aren't solely his
- The wheel has been discovered by so many different civilisations from the Mayans to Mesopotamia to Ancient China
