common knowledge about 2021?

All the international tournaments from 2021 were Mickey Mouse events. That year was irrelevant and shouldn't even count.
Only tournaments from 2022 onward actually matter.

  • Teams were still figuring out basic fundamentals: utility usage, map control, agent comps, etc.
  • A significant portion of players from 2021 are no longer in tier 1. Some are in tier 2/3, and many retired or switched scenes entirely.
  • Post-plant setups, info play, and team coordination were basic compared to today's standards.
  • Many players from CSGO, Overwatch, and other titles jumped to Valorant, some were legit talents, others were just trying to cash in early.

Also, some regions hadn’t fully matured and meta was undeveloped.

Champions 2021 + Reykjavik 2021 = Ass.

Thank you all for agreeing with me.

His 2024 season on flex was really solid and he definitely deserves credit for his success during that season. People knew how to play by then.

That's fair, i wouldn't call it an aspas performance. But he definitely stepped up when they needed a shooter if zekken was having a bad game or he had died in a round. He was my favorite Omen to watch because he used him so aggressively. I just like watching duelist players on other roles.

Still, early val was mickey mouse as hell, Reykjavik 2021 was a ranked lobby. Tenz Reyna was running and jumping with a frenzy on Icebox and he got MVP.
