Why the hell does a single country get 4 slots at Champs?
Riot must be making a ton of money off the Chinese fans, prioritizing their entertainment over actual competitiveness at the biggest tournament of the year

I didn’t really follow how the franchise model was set up. Why didn’t China join the rest of Asia in one region? Or like, split Asia into two regions instead of China having a whole VCT just for themselves, it doesn’t make much sense
China had the game officially released in 2023 and had their official league in 2024
Because China is rich and has a good esports infrastructure.
Just like why China has its own league in league of legends
Just like why Korea has its own league in league of legedends.
Riot can make maximum profit doing this. Riot is a multibillion dollar company that wants to make money
Makes sense, so it’s basically just about money and the fact that esports is huge over there
Yes. The introduction of the league has heavily incentivised new players from China as well and it’s one of the fastest growing games there since the game also releases there in 2024 or something, which EDG luckily won champs which helps it kickoff in China even more. The whole point of esports is to promote the game in the first place. Riot doesn’t care about anything but making money why else would they charge 100 dollars for dogass skins
Got it, but with all the money being invested it’s kinda impossible for China not to dominate the international scene in the next few years, right? I watched some VCT CN games and the investment there is insane, plus the audience is huge
I mean who knows? They sure look pretty shit this year and I don’t know why. Good aimers but macro so bad, I guess because the game is newer and there aren’t many good coaches yet? Idk.
But yeah the investment is pretty big there, and the game is getting really popular so it’s paid off short term at least…
But in terms of dominating, my honest thoughts are that every region will be fine. Valorant isn’t like csgo where variability is almost non-existent and teams can just dominate for 2 years. There is so much new stuff that it’s almost impossible to stay consistent. Might be wrong who knows. Skill ceiling is lower and skill expression is lower, shit players can become goats and then quickly become mediocre again in the span of a year
Idk bro, but I just wanna see the goat siufatBB on the international stage again
I only saw the bad results but didn’t actually watch the games, what happened? Whose fault was it? I thought it was crazy, honestly felt really bad for siufatBB
do you understand that china alone is probably the size and has the population of the entire europe
China Production >>>>>>>>>>> Americas as margin(rich)
And players are still not experienced like apac in first 2 years.
same question could have been asked to apac back in 2021-22 ; look where they are now
yeah, i think it’s just a matter of time before China shows up big in the internationals with all that investment
well apac is not one country its fucking 2 continents
but i disagree with op either way
There’s that too, I’m not saying it means anything, but in the official broadcasts China is always shown last and the gap is huge
Yeah bro lol, the Chinese are coming in full force, but I’m genuinely just asking, I’m not trying to downplay the region
yea because the games starts early af at night (apac is more interesting to european and american viewers) , chinese viewers doesnt use twitch/yt, and most western fans watches project horizon
Usually the data only comes from YouTube or twitch, local Chinese streaming platform like bilibili usually doesn't include in the data
prioritizing their entertainment over actual competitiveness
Its not like china was never competitive over the years no no no
