the system is flawed because often times the best upcoming players that get poached are apart of the Ascension winning rosters (Kajaak) or the age limit for franchising.

We never got to see the full potential of the Apeks winning roster, or the Bleed winning roster, or 2G winning roster.

Platchat doesn't know shit, everyone on VLR should know this by now.

platchat is comprised of analysts, coaches, and casters employed by riot. Riot doesn't hire just anybody.

they know more then most of VLR.

I mean it was one of the biggest pick-ups of all time, not in terms of performance, but because an ascension team were taking a huge risk picking up a GC player and because that player was the best GC player and a lot of people were expecting to at least be decent.

Boom ? G2 ? DRX ? XLG ?

XLG dropped their IGL in Kr1stal because of region restrictions
Boom shouldn't be here, but proof that when the roster isn't poached, they can show up, they just choked in playoffs.
G2 similar to Boom, they kept four of their roster the same and then made a change to pick up Leaf. Proof that when the roster isn't poached, they can do well.
I assume you mean DRG, again proof when you don't poach the roster, they can show up.

All the rosters you just listed prove my point of when they don't get poached or lose their best players, they can perform and contend. Boom went undefeated in Stage 1, G2 was the best team in all of valorant for a bit, DRG made Shanghai, XLG made Toronto.

Obviously there are outliers for both sides, Gentlemates, Nongshim, for example didn't make a whole bunch of changes their first year and got railed.

But the main point stands, we don't get to see some of the full potential of these winning rosters because they get poached, can't play cause of age, region restrictions, etc.

The restrictions is fair but a lot of the poaching is because the players think they can fit into a different more established tier 1 team. It's not exactly the system's fault that they "abandon" their ascension winning team to get the bag. Can't exactly blame them either.

XLG dropped their IGL in Kr1stal because of region restrictions : Then the problem is that T2 team should be allowed to have 2 imports from another T1 region
Boom shouldn't be here : Boom would be here if 2025 rule was there in 2024
I assume you mean DRG : Yup

"All the rosters you just listed prove my point of when they don't get poached or lose their best players" I agree on this point, I disagree on the fact every team that win asc will get poached, and I strongly disagree about the fact we should change the system, the mixed system is perfect as it is (If you want to make rule to avoid poaching and forcing5 player to stay together for 1year, I could agree with that) But what you gonna do ? Suppress Ascention slot and go fully closed and make run like G2 disapear ? Going fully open and kill the stability ?

Nah it works just fine to me gives people a chance to play in tier 1 that wouldn't get a chance because of t1 orgs being horrific at times also hot take the age restrictions on tier 1 are justified but I think I'm in the minority on this

Age restrictions are necessary in an entertainment field to prevent young players from ruining their lives. Contracts need you to be an adult for a reason and eSports is a very short term job all things considered. Ofc valorant is a bit better in that a lot of teams and contracts force you to work on public image so you can at least branch out into content creation but it would be really bad to drag kids into the field.
