It’s lock-in all over again

The best teams in 2022 were the top 4 of LOCK-in. And the best teams at EWC were the best teams at Toronto. The quality of gameplay was incredibly high for both events rivalling masters events, yet you try to discredit it

The prize pool is massive, and every team entered the qualifier and/or attended EWC were trying their hardest to win, unlike off season tournaments which are mostly used as practice for the VCT circuits.

The valorant community cannot beg for non VCT circuit events to fill out the terribly spaced circuit, and then do whatever in their power to discredit the events when they appear

Americas is mad becauae their teams have to rely on Aspas and Verno to save their tinpot region with no talent.

APAC is mad because their fluke PRX and choker Gen G cannot replicate success.

China is just happy to be there.

yeah man, heretics were absolutely dominating in toronto

Jokes aside, the main reasons people are mad about the ewc is the dogshit production and the format with first round bo1 and no lowers in playoffs. If the ewc didnt have these 2 issues, I think most of the people discrediting the ewc wouldn't although I think no lowers in playoffs is fair as LOCKIN also didn't have it.

Hetetics lost to the winning team and the third placing team. I don’t really understand how heretics’ toronto placements reflect them as a team when the sample pool is limited + gauged against top 3 teams

if you think the Wolves and Paper Rex that Heretics lost to are the same that placed 1st and 3rd you don’t know ball. Those teams improved throughout the event. Heretics still looked awful in Toronto

I highly doubt teams innovated as much as they would for a masters though given that they are on an old patch and are about to start Stage 2, which they likely care more for. They’re motivated to win but this event is still just a training ground like any other off season event, this one just happens to have a bigger prize pool

Ewc isn't a masters or champs or lockin level still though at least lockin was a part of the circuit and still impacted the rest of the year and that's okay we give too little credit to the other offseason events to be honest like sopp and rbhg not every event has to be super massive and not every esport needs to run a billion events it's not like many fit on the schedule anyway
