the idea behind calling T1's bangkok trophy a "fluke" was that G2 had higher peaks throughout the tournament
and yet nobody is calling PRX's win a "fluke" even though GENG were clearly the "best" (by pl0tch0t definition at least) team at Toronto
im all for calling both trophies flukes or neither a fluke but the double standard is certainly there
T1 was good for 3 matches then haven't been good since, plus it was pretty much 75% meteor. PRX were put against TH for their first match, and shitstomped them, and then continued to demolish all their opponents they faced besides GEN.
its not a double standard, one team was consistently good throughout the tournament and the other had one player peak for a bit just to fall off a cliff.
he was quite literally giving them half their rounds, but even if that weren't the case my point is that T1 is shit now
do you call Madrid a fluke as well? SEN didn't even qualify to stage 1 playoffs
then they got 4th at champs? if T1 do the same thing then ill eat my words, but their team is internally crumbling and its looking likely they might not make it
is the point of calling something a fluke to judge whether they were actually the best team at that tournament or not? if you wait as long as champs to make a judgment that can't possibly be accurate...
the difference between SEN and T1 was that SEN had no time to prep for Stage 1, which meant that their poor performance could have been chalked up to burnout. remember, for their first match, johnqt was flown in the night before. For T1, they had like 3 weeks to prep, and some pretty easy matches looking forward, but then they got 2-0'd by TLN, a pretty mid team honestly. Looking at it from a fair perspective, SEN had it harder than T1 due to scheduling and games, but they only missed out of playoffs by two rounds. T1 were far out of contention. thats the reason
SEN also had easy matches though.. EG and LOUD were supposed to be free but yet they threw away a 10-2 lead to EG who were horrible prior to their matchup and gave them their first win. They also got swept by LOUD 0-2 which was supposed to be another easy matchup, why’s it any different for T1?
as I said before, it was the amount of time they had to prep. T1 had weeks while SEN didn't even have their full roster until the night before their first match, let alone prac, and they still almost made it if not for literally two rounds, while T1 consistently got worse over Stage 1.
T1 played the most amount of series and maps leading to their bangkok win, roughly as much as sen.
They had to deal with the map pool changes, iso changes which really hurt them since haven was one of their strongest maps. They couldn’t adjust on time in stage 1
(yes i know meteor on tejo is the worst decision you could make, i can’t deny that. solely on buttumn)

and didn’t T1 literally stomp the fuck out of trace, DRX, VIT and EDG when it mattered most? PRX did the same shit in toronto like you mentioned.
Everyone calls T1’s run a miracle or fluke but not PRX who literally NEEDED a miracle to make it to toronto mind you. I agree with Hynix

meteor was definitely their best player. He's literally the main reason why T1 won a trophy. Go rewatch all t1 matches and see how autumn literallly just sent him alone for every round. He absorbed all the focus on him. That's why T1 won harder or even lose the game when meteor has bad day.
u do realize that the "best" team doesnt always win and thats why upsets are a thing right
