s1mon decision still baffles me

EDG were with all due respect a breakout and impressive, but in the grand scheme still a MID team

their best performance was in Tokyo, but were extremely mid (sometimes even kind of horrible) for Champs 2023, Madrid, and Shanghai

S1mon took that team and made them CHAMPIONS, then really good at Bangkok too

morale and team social is important sure, but EDG really need to let go of pride in this case and take S1mon back unless they want to settle for more mediocrity

I have the exact opposite take, everyone overvalues what s1mon did at champs and ignores nobody chichoo kangkang (and even smoggy in some matches)

s1mon was holding util for 90% of the round to set up his teammates and people complained about his fragging
KK underperformed while chichoo and smoggy took over and pushed them all the way to the grand final but since he had a generational grand final everyone chose to forget that and gave him MVP

everyone thinks kangkang underperformed because of stats, but he was useful to his team and killed people off s1mon's util (takes a good duelist to coordinate with good utils). At the end of the day s1mon is replaceable but KangKang is not

its literally the opposite, when you have a core of players that are playing at a ridiculous level, such that they can afford having a player that doesn't shoot back tells more about that group of players than s1mon

put any dedicated flash ini on that roster they are winning regardless

Issue is if it's true that S1mon. Just got cocky and complacent and barely practiced properly anymore I see no reason to keep him. Also if EDG is really trying other players that aren't called slowly there are trolling big time.
Slowy has great firepower + can helpt nobody with the calls and allow nobody to frag a little more again

Assuming that what's been said about S1mon's work ethic and attitude since winning camps is true, there was simply no other option for the team. Having a guy with issues like that will eat away at your team culture and cause massive issues. It really sucks for the team that it happened, but I don't see how they could possibly justify keeping him around with how unwilling he was to act more mature.

Terrible situation for both the team and the player, especially with all the fall out afterwards, but it's not as simple as "They hit their peak as a team with S1mon so dropping him is troll"
