Deranked from Immortal

I recently downloaded a third-party Valorant tracker from a YouTuber. The tracker only showed me the ranks and stats of my teammates during the agent select screen, as well as the rounds where I got kills. What really stood out to me was how many teammates I’ve had who have deranked significantly. One recent example, in my Plat 1 games, was a Gold 2 player who had previously peaked at Immortal 2.

I remember almost quitting the game myself after deranking from Gold 1 to Bronze, so I can’t imagine what it must feel like to fall that far. That said, he was actually a really cool guy, also the most talkative teammate I’ve met in all my hours of playing Valorant.

It used to be way easier to get to Immortal/Radiant back then (even without duo), specially if you was someone with previously experience from other FPS games (any eagle ranked and above CS player would just smurf every game).

Valorant, just like every other competitive game, has evolved a lot in these 5 or so years of existence, the game dynamics changed a lot.

I can definetly see a previously well ranked player not catching up with nowadays players the same elo, some Diamond/Ascendant players would destroy even some first acts (or whatever the fuck are the seasons are called) Radiants.

somehow like 40% of the accounts i encounter in plat were asc or higher at one point. more then 2k hours and my peak is d2
