During a stream this evening, Kameto claimed that :
-
For several weeks, VCT EMEA team owners have been talking among themselves, and some have been complaining about the recurring tech pauses.
-
Most teams are turning a blind eye and don’t want to openly criticize Riot. They’re afraid of jeopardizing their VCT EMEA slot renewal, which is coming up soon.
-
The only teams that have clearly protested against these technical issues are KC, GX, and M8.
-
During the early rounds of KC-TL, it took in average 20 minutes of tech pause before each round. KC proposed a joint initiative with TL to refuse to resume the match in order to send a strong message. TL, who were leading by some rounds, refused any joint action with KC and insisted on finishing the map at all costs (even though on camera they seemed just as bothered by the technical pauses).
-
After the game was interrupted, TL wanted to keep the same maps/vetos (+ resuming the series 1-0). Riot Europe sided with them. KC had to escalate the matter to Riot Global, who stepped in and decided to redo the map veto process.
