It's the big 2025, and we are still seeing teams crutching to blasts from the past in Jett/Neon/Raze, ancient relics if you ask me, that have better-in-slot alternatives now. Not only do we have a meta which currently favours the playstyle/utility of Yoru and Waylay, but it's also better on almost every single map. They have great agent combos and have a lot of depth which can be brought to teamplay. Like why are we still seeing Jett?? "Oh, but I want to OP." Waylay is literally, in a lot of ways, a better OP agent. Now in ranked, i agree Jett/Raze may be better. Comfort picks, the fact they don't require good teamplay/coms, and having a lot of individual/solo play potential, do make those agents top picks. I mean, hell, I'd dodge if I saw someone lock Waylay in my ranked game. But in pro play? You're missing out on a lot not having them in your comps 8/10 times.
I'll paint you a picture. You're back in the year of sticks and stones, you're out hunting with your bow & arrows, looking for your next meal. But you can't hit that darn rabbit, just can't get close enough to get a good shot off because your twig bow shoots like its on a night out in Ibiza. And then you see Johnny with his newly made recurve bow, which could thread a needle accurately from a mile away, while your arrows look like they're stopping and asking people for directions. And you have the audacity, when he offers you one as well, to go, "Nah, Imma stick to my twig bow because this is what I know."
All I'm saying is you need to stop trying to hunt rabbits because hunting is a bad look if the animal is cute these days. Jokes aside, the point is, If you want to play the OG agents because you think it suits your comp better sure, or because you're more comfortable on it, then fine. But because your Duelist player doesn't want to learn the agent, or because they tried it in ranked a couple of times and felt like a fish out of water because they tried to play Waylay like Jett, that isn't a valid excuse. Just look at waylays non mirror rate win %. At least give it a good thought/go before you throw it out the window completely. What are your thoughts?
